evo SC vs. tpc SC
Todd:
What are your feelings about the way your kit delivers HP vs the TPC? Have you been able to generate any more HP gains down low?
Also, what is the typical longevity of the CF charger you're using? TPC claims their unit requires no maintenance for 100K miles on their roots style unit.

I will review the dynos of our current system later today. As I stated, I am not convinced that the graphs posted are an accurate representation of what is actually happening. Centrifugal superchargers replicate a factory type power curve. We chose to use this type of supercharger for a few reasons.
1) Because it replicates a factory power curve, it is not as hard on the OEM drive train and clutch.
2) Centrifugal superchargers typically are installed on lower displacement higher revving engines. Other tuners such as Dinan use the Vortec unit on the E46 M3 etc for this reason. You will find the positive displacement supercharger on V8 engines that are use generating a tremendous amount of bottom end TQ, unlike the Porsche 996/997. We feel that the centrifugal is a better fit for long term reliability on this specific engine.
3) The Vortec unit has proven itself to be a very reliable as has the Eaton.

Todd:
Maybe you can clear this up for me, but I've heard the opposite with your system with regards to drivetrain wear.
The information I was given was that your system is much harder on the drivetrain the way it slowly builds boost and then comes on very hard, like a turbo. Whereas the roots style unit has more parasitic drag, but the full power is applied evenly without a surge creating less wear on the drive train.
sorry for the run on sentence there, i'm a little overtired. could you elaborate on this?

That does not make any sense and whoever gave you that info, does not have a firm grasp on how our system works. The centrifugal SC makes steady boost as the RPM's climb. It will make 2 psi down low and will steadily climb to 6 psi as the RPM's climb. There is no sudden surge in boost at any point of the RPM range. That is impossible just with the way the centrifugal works. The Positive displacement on the other hand does have that sudden surge of boost that will have a negative impact on this type of drive train. I am not saying the Eaton is bad; we are using one on a V8 project that we are working on. What I am saying is IMO, it has a better fit on a V8 where a sudden surge in TQ down low is what the V8 produces stock, thus less likely to harm the drive train.

Thanks for responding. I certainly don't claim to be an expert. Appreciate the info and I'm trying to learn as much as I can before spend this kind of money on an upgrade.
I know you mentioned it before, but I'd really like to see a current 3.6 dyno, as the other dynos make it appear that the car is very close to stock until at least 4Kish, with a big surge all the way to redline.

You got it. Give me a few hours.

Nice power peaks....but the GT3 holds its power much longer (becuase of the higher redline)...and a TPC SC'ed 3.6L makes SIGNIFICANTLY more torque throughout the entire powerband than the EVO kit. (I don't mean to start anything here but thats just simple facts looking at these posted charts**) The TPC kit makes a peak of 360+ RWT as oppsoe to a little over 300 for EVO and it does it throughout much more of the powerband....hence, a much faster package*
