So, two years ago, I got the itch to see what all this 991 business was about. I was not about to give up the 997.1TT, so I did a two year lease on a brand new 2017 C2 991 Cab.
Frankly I was surprised at the power of the base 991. I've had other PDK vehicles, but the new engine plus PDK was a phenomenal combination. In addition, I wanted the C2 so I could have a little fun swinging the rear - and yes you can! I had a blast with this car and was a little sad to give it back. But what a consolation prize ... knowing the 997.1TT 6MT is still the ultimate driving experience IMO. Your mileage may vary.
I highly recommend getting in a new one just to appreciate what you have. I'm sure the 991 Turbo might change my opinion, but it would be hard. I'm pushing some serious power (to me) and with SC, DSC, tune, IC's, hoses, Fabspeed Sport Exhaust and headers, 20" PSS ... I can't say I need anything ... except maybe another one
Yes, the new engine and yes a different feel, which was very nice, just not the same as the 07TT. I enjoyed swinging the rear out, and the sound of the stock pipes with the PSE was very, very nice too. It's a different car, but people in my office still knew when it was me pulling into the parking lot
^^^ Land Cruiser fans here too. They go anywhere and don't break. We currently have an 80-series and a 100-series.
Interesting to me how so many people gravitate towards the 997 vs. the newer models. I have yet to drive or even ride in a 991 (or 992); increasingly curious myself now.
Cool! I'm a big fan of the 80s, in particular the 96-97 versions. A 6,000 lb perfect combination of OBDII and straightforward mechanicals. Plus, you have a huge group of cheap b@stards on line who have had 22 years to figure out how to fix anything on it at ih8mud.com. If you aren't a member you should go check it out. I just got through turning off my airbag light with a paperclip.
