09 PCM xm question

Tried tech forum, but thought more would see this here.
Can anyone confirm/deny that xm can/can't be added to a 2009 car that didnt come with it? Car has Nav & bluetooth but not XM. Is there a module that can be added to operate as if it was factory optioned? Obviously an antenna would need to be added.

correct. There is no XM 'add-on' according to Porsche right now. That's why I searched long and hard for a cab with xm from the factory. On the 09's, it is easy to spot...a small square box on the cab and on the roof on a coupe.

The reason for the lack of a simple add-on is the routing and placing of the XM antenna. For cars with it from the factory, the antenna is placed and cable routed through the body panels.. not something Porsche wants you doing after the fact (drilling holes, etc). Technically, I don't see a reason one cannot route the antenna to where the gps antenna is.. .though I'm guessing the reception will be compromised in that location.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead but, if the XM antenna is the small, square box on the rear of the roof on a coupe, where is the GPS antenna? I've STFA and can't seem to find the answer. Much less the antenna!

On my '07 C2 (w/ Nav), I installed an OEM XM unit (a Cayenne part). To do so, I had to remove the Nav antenna and install a similar antenna (OEM) that received two inputs...one for Nav and one for XM. This may be the reason why you are unable to find the two separate antennas. Not sure if it is the same on a 997.2.

As for drilling holes through the body of the car to route wires/antennas, it is really not that big of a deal. The car has firewalls in it, which can easily be cut to run wires through it. After cutting, add silicone to seal it back up.

You can use nav-tv to add Sirius to your set up. I just did it but....there are 2 versions of the software. One will work, one will not.

You will need to hold down the SOURCE + INFO buttons simultaneously for 1 second and let go -*

If the display says ACTIVE System your Porsche is not Compatible -*
If the displays says CURRENT System your Porsche is Compatible -*

I was lucky and had the right software. I had it installed and it works great.

I've been using the iPhone XM app through the AUX input in the meantime but I checked and, in fact, my system displays CURRENT. So, you're saying that the software is good to go if I wanted to purchase the PCM 3.0 Sirius/XM module and have it installed (inculding antenna). Is that right?

That is correct. I ordered the Nat-TV Sat system (It's Sirius) directly from NavTV. Talk to Lenny. Lenny Gomez <lgomez@navtv.com>

Lenny also told me the local car stereo place to have it installed. It works great.

Ok, then! Very nice. I'll check out Nav-TV's site and see what's on offer there. I appreciate the feedback and I'll ping Lenny with questions.

Thanks again!
