Almost in transition from 997S to Gt3
No problem at all . You've been so helpful . I look at those pictures and I do have second thoughts . The white PDK car is real nice .
Also out of all the painted seats I like it most on the white car or silver car .
On my black 997tt car I did not opt for it.

Gt3's are not in shortage anywhere .
The real shortage is on used 997.1 cars in the 45-60K range with low miles and desireable options.
I also believe that my PDK car is very unique.
I made my offer . i didn't expect that Sin911 would post it (as i had shared it privately) but as long as he did its ok . I don't feel that my offer is in any way deficient . It is what it is.
Nor does it take anything away from the car i have .
I would not sell my car for 75K .
I would not even sell my car for 95K.
I also would not pay MSRP for any car .
So it may mean passing up the Gt3 .
I'd be disappointed but saving money is never bad.

I feel you on the $75k for your car, and please don't get mad about my comments. You have a beautiful car, and if I was shopping for a Porsche and saw your car on the lot I'd be all over it! But the dealers always try to screw you over...
Trust me even I wouldn't sell my 08 C2S for $75k after all the mods I've done...What I don't understand is that the GT3's MSRP is $138k, how much lower can they go?
Let's say you bought this car last month , added the Bilsteins ,and the P40's .
Had I told you that it was now worth $26000 less than what you paid wouild you believe it ?
I have never lost 26K on even a two year old Porsche --much less a one month old car.
1) When I traded in my 07 997S I lost 3 grand 5 months later.
2) When I privately sold my 2005 997S launch car to an independent lot I lost 12K one yeat later.
3) When I traded my 2002 996 which had body damage I lost 22K and it was two years old .
4) When I traded my 2000 996 I lost 21K and it had high miles.
5) when I traded my 993 Turbo I lost 30K and it was four years old with high miles.
6) When I traded my 993 95 it had high miles and i lost 20K .
So in 6 Porsches that's 108K lost on trade ins . But you think this one month old car wil lose 26K and no one seems to debate this .
How do you think I have figured out pricing so well ?
I have learned from previous porsches .

I would expect between $3k - $5k loss with the trade... There are a lot of 09s sitting in the dealership lots, and they are giving a lot of discounts on the new ones... That was the reason that I said you would loose a lot on the car.
The $26k includes all the mods you have done, I wouldn't expect getting all the money you spent on the mods... I would feel great if I could get back $10k for the mods!
Please understand me, I am not trying to offend anyone... I am just trying to look at the situation objectively. Here's an 09 997.2 C2S for sale and it's modded. Please check it out.

It's not a bad thing that you posted offer . I was just surprised by it but I don't feel its a bad offer so if it flew I would not feel like any dealership was handing me a Gt3 for free . They wold face taking the risk in selling my car but with that comes the potential for profit too . My car really is tricked out .
The car you posted with an asking price of 81 is :a) private sale , b) does not have FVD parts , c) may not even have the options like mine. d) has 4K miles instead of 700 , and d) isn't sold by a dealership .
These add up .
I suppose I was taken back by the idea that anyone wouild think 26K was an acceptable loss in one month coupoled with the 20K in profit which is ingrained into the Gt3 .
The Gt3 market is a different market . It's appeal is mostly to track drivers but they aren't buying them because everbody has them . The market is flooded with Gt3's compared to past years when these cars in some cases even had an added premium.
All one can do is make the offer .
Any offer is worth hearing and both dealerships have not said no .
The key will be when my car is completed late this week .
I am not going to budge on my offer though.

Finally a voice of reason.
Your PDK car is stunning and it is as perfect as street-friendly Porsche can possibly be. Why would you want to substitute it with nascar style race car which is not street friendly at all if you not going to race it ever - was beyond any sense.

I agree with you . It's not a logical decision so your voice oif reason is not falling on deaf ears with this . The Gt3 is more of an emotional and visceral driving machine and that's the appeal . I do have other cars .
I look at the pictures of my PDK car and ponder about the new paddles its getting . I will drive it again before I decide. And yes it is a gorgeous car . I even think the PDK car would work well if ever taken on a vacation --example -if I transported it to California and drive the coast . It would be the car to do it with.
I am on the fence . I have posted this .
I just don't ever want to feel that held onto the PDK car without giving the Gt3 a second look to be sure .
Usually I observe this with people. They even do this in their personal lives . They get married and spend 20 years with a person and when they divorce they try to pinpoint when they first felt this way and its usually early on. People do this with careers, residence, cars, just aboit everything .
I am not the one to ever sit in denial but if I make the change I want to think it through .
I did make my offer .
I will drive my car again beforehand.
Let's see how it goes.
But yes -- you were heard and understood.

I would be devastated if I was to loose $26k in one month... But spending all the money on the car, I probably would not be willing to sell it afterward. Like right now, after spending so much money on my car even though I have the money to upgrade right now I don't want to. It would just be a waste...
With all the options listed in the GT3, the numbers add up to a $138k. I did the "Build Your Porshce" application in the Porsche website. It's not like the dealership is putting a $20k mark up on the price...
These add up .

I don't see a flooded market of GT3. Its a newer version gt3 this year and my guess it that they will sell.
I think you have convinced yourself of a market that is not set yet.
As far as the GT3 market is concerned, I can tell you that when I bought my car in July I was shocked how many 997.1 GT3's were on the lot. 2 were new and 3 were used. When I asked about the used ones the salesman told me that most were traded in on more 'comfortable' cars. Don't know how many of those are left but that same dealer now has 2 997.2 GT3's on the lot. So I agree with Larry, that the GT3 market is not as lean as past years.

And in july how many carrera's where there. How many now?
One dealer is claiming to have moved over 60 911's in the past two months.
When did the 2010 GT3 hits the floors?
Hey guys. There is no need or reason to bicker about this.
Larry will either sell his 997 at the price he wants or he wont.
He will either find a good deal on a GT3 or he wont.
Time will tell.

Larry...wow 3- 997 cars in the garage...AWESOME LOL! GT3 huh....I vote for the Red with Sport Bucket Seats since you fit in them and a sign up with Suncoast PCA Sebring Nov 15th DE to really enjoy the car.
Who's bickering. Were giving opinions and speculating about the market and the why and why nots of trading a new, modded car in.
