Almost in transition from 997S to Gt3
So --If I have to spend a little more money .., to get the gt3 ...
I'd have to drive my PDK car one last time .
I'd have to think about it .
I'd have to spec the car myself .
I am seeing gt3's all over the place for sale .
I don't think people are lining up to buy them as much as is touted on this thread.
I am also noticing used cars 06, 07 , skyrocketing in asking price.
I might end up passing it by .

Gt3's are not in shortage anywhere .
The real shortage is on used 997.1 cars in the 45-60K range with low miles and desireable options.
I also believe that my PDK car is very unique.
I made my offer . i didn't expect that Sin911 would post it (as i had shared it privately) but as long as he did its ok . I don't feel that my offer is in any way deficient . It is what it is.
Nor does it take anything away from the car i have .
I would not sell my car for 75K .
I would not even sell my car for 95K.
I also would not pay MSRP for any car .
So it may mean passing up the Gt3 .
I'd be disappointed but saving money is never bad.

As you stated before you really can't lose in either scenario. Glad you made your decision and are sticking to it. Good luck!
I have always had great Porsche buying experiences and even when I made my offer I did say that it's ok if it doesn't fly .
We'll see .

I know it is a complete different car, but would the dealership pay me extra for the mods on my car? Would they pay me extra for the Bilstein Damptronics and HRE P40s? Or all the extra small stuff I have gotten installed? I don't think they would...
If they did, then I would buy a 997.1 GT3 somewhere
Let's say you bought this car last month , added the Bilsteins ,and the P40's .
Had I told you that it was now worth $26000 less than what you paid wouild you believe it ?
I have never lost 26K on even a two year old Porsche --much less a one month old car.
1) When I traded in my 07 997S I lost 3 grand 5 months later.
2) When I privately sold my 2005 997S launch car to an independent lot I lost 12K one yeat later.
3) When I traded my 2002 996 which had body damage I lost 22K and it was two years old .
4) When I traded my 2000 996 I lost 21K and it had high miles.
5) when I traded my 993 Turbo I lost 30K and it was four years old with high miles.
6) When I traded my 993 95 it had high miles and i lost 20K .
So in 6 Porsches that's 108K lost on trade ins . But you think this one month old car wil lose 26K and no one seems to debate this .
How do you think I have figured out pricing so well ?
I have learned from previous porsches .
You can't. Especially on a new car.
Selling quickly sends red flags up and raises warranty issues. Your modding a first year model.
If your into mods and want to pay for a high end car you are going to do the mods you want. Or your going to get a great discount on the ones there that you don't like.

In South Florida . Example (one of many independent lots) -- http://formula-1-sport-cars.ebizautos.com/
lots of people trade new cars !!!!!! and they all don't lose the amounts you are describing to do so.
If a car isn't good even the independent lots won't buy it and the Porsche dealerships would never hang onto it . Not in this region .
I have to wait until I get my car back . Then I will know if the Gt3 is in the cards or not .
I also would not be surprised to see my own car in sale for over 100K and it would sell . It would probably be sold before my gt3 even arrives,

Did you really trade an '07 S five months later and only lose $3k? Even not including tax, title and registration that is pretty amazing.
Doesn't really matter what anyone says, of course, question is, will they do the deal and is it a good deal for you. Even plus another $10k, I think you get a pretty good deal. If the GT3 is good. Haven't shopped those at all. If we study DMEs for 997S's, you REALLY need to check it on a GT3!!
Good luck. Life is short, take all you can!

Larry,
If you have time could you post pics of your white seat backs, when your car comes back? My GT3 order is still changeable (although may be locked soon) and I am on the fence about painting the backs. Car is white too.
Anyway, get the 3!!! Just kidding, well kind of; the deal must make sense to you and only you.

On the 07S the car listed for 92K . I paid 81.5 and was given 79 .
I also bought my Turbo when no dealerships even had any that weren't pre sold . The demand was very high at that time . Most were paying MSRP . The lucky got 5K off . I got 2K off .
The market was very different then than it is now .
These huge discounts that everyone has seen is unprecendented in all the years I have owned Porsches .
Also the huge drop in the used market on 06 and 07 cars has bounced back . That's another thing . A used Porsche can actually depreciate but then bounce up .
After porche pulls the "moment" incentives .. even the 09's will climb . The 2010 cars will not get these huge discounts either .
But cars like the Turbo or the Gt3 are a completely different type of buyers market . I am somewhat learning the Gt3 market as I look at cars , how they are specd , how many are on lots, and the price range .
There are plenty of them . People simply are not buying them in enough numbers . I remember days when Gt3's were all spoken for and that's not the case anymore .
The only way to find out is to make an offer .
It helps having two Porsches to fall back on if the deal falls through .
In fact .. even though my Turbo is two years old . I would take my car tenfold over a Gt3 . Not in stock form .. but the way mine is modded with the Evt700 , werks1, techart, brembo, bilstein, sway bar -- It's the best car I ever owned .
