SharkWerks bypass

Has anyone installed just the SharkWerks bypass? I am trying to reproduce factory PSE without spending the money for the dealer installation. I have a .2 Carerra S without PSE so I'm not sure the "hack" will work as good as it does on the .1 cars. The SharkWerks system really sounds good on their web site, but I am wondering if it will make a significant difference over my current sound.

I was in the same boat as you and did not want to spend major bucks on an aftermarket exhaust system. I installed the AWE crossover pipes that eliminated the center muffler. This gave a slightly deeper note to the exhaust but did not give any major change in sound at speed or under acceleration. I then added the "Gundo Hack" and between the two mods got the exact level of exhaust volume I was looking for. Absolutely no interior drone at any speed. The exhaust is a little raspy on cold start but quickly settles down as the engine reaches operating temperature. The new sound on the road is immediately noticeable on takeoff and maintains a noticeable "growl" as you accelerate. I got the crossover pipes used which saved me a few bucks, and the hack was done by an exhaust shop that specializes in aftermarket and "one-off" systems for $200. Your results may vary. Bottom line: This works.

Thank you very much for the reply. Really good information. You are the first I've seen to post any feedback on a Gundo Hack on a DFI car. Did you use 2" pipe on the hack?

I've got the SW bypass on my PSE car. With PSE 'off' I can tell you that the SW sounds fantastic at 2500+ rpm...very noticeable w/out drone. I tend to keep my PSE 'on' in order to get more advantage of the sound.

I think it's well worth it, PSE or not. And since nothing is getting cut and completely reversible should you decide to trade, it's a better long-term solution than the hack. I did keep my factory center muffler...just in case. But only plan on replacing IF I decide to trade my GTS at some point (and therefore try to get a few $$$ back by selling it). At least I know I won't have any issues with dealer/buyers.

I absolutely notice the enhanced sound above 3K or so...and if I'm trying to reduce the attention, I shift up to reduce rpms. But I ALWAYS keep the rpms high under a bridge, in a tunnel and usually in a garage. It just sounds too good.

I have the Sharkwerks bypass on 09 C4S pdk without PSE. Was at a DE event today and parked next to a buddy who has a similar 09C4S pdk car stock. He was curious to hear the Sharkwerks bypass. We did side by side revs with some other people behind us. Their opinion was that the bypass sounded different and nice.

Also ran sport plus with windows open on the track. Nice sounding esp when throttling up to wot after late apex corner. My instructor who has a GT3 was impressed as well.

Talk to Alex at Sharkwerks for questions.
