The last 997....

Does anyone know when the last 997 is scheduled to roll off the line? My car is scheduled for completion 10/24/11.
Are there any potential negative implications to being such a late build? ie, they run out of some random part so they use chewing gum instead?

They might, but the chewing gum they use will be manufactured to precise German standards. j/k

I think it is highly unlikely that there would be any shortage of parts as Porsche will need them to support the vast number of 997s already on the road.

Congratulations on getting one of the last 997s built. Good luck to you. We, of course, will need to see pictures once it is delivered.

All good points. I'll certainly post pics when I actually get the car, but the dealer said not to expect it before thanksgiving.

Yea, I wouldn't worry about parts at all, as mentioned. That's pretty cool to be getting one of the latest 997s!

All depends which model you are talking about and which salesman you are talking to. 3 weeks ago a salesman in Indiana told me that the last GTS had already been built. A couple of days ago a Brumos salesman showed me Porsche's build schedule for the GTS and it goes into May 2012.

Suncoast has a couple of 2012 GTS 's on their lot so the May 2012 final build date makes more sense.

I'll bet Jerry Seinfeld knows.. he's a big 'first' and 'last' edition Porsche collector. I'm sure it'll end up in someone's collection, rather than in the hands of Joe Public.

I think the Turbo will be the last production 997, which will end in 2013. You my friend are safe... Not to mention the parts bin for the 997 will be safe for a long time.

nephew is infamous around these parts
If I were you, I would hope that they run out of parts as I suspect that they would trade you up to a better part!
