Would be awesome if someone summarized everything instead of sorting through 53 pages. I started reading, then different speakers were suggested, then someone mentioned there were speakers that are plug an play...lol I think I'm getting old too
ryem3 what did you replace the Turbo with?

Nothing is really plug and play, but the modifications are nominal and the install is reversible. Spacers are needed for the woofers in the doors, I got them from Al and Eds and made mounting plates for the rears.
Haha, I sold the turbo and got a Golf R. Then sold it and now have a BMW M2. Both are some of the best values around.

Did this speaker conversion few years ago when one of my Bose speakers blew-out.
Finally got around to ordering center replacement speakers as well as Dayton sub replacement. Lol
Will let u know if there is noticeable improvement after install.
Have extra center speaker (focal TIS 1.5) for sale
Pm if interested

I believe the colors were added to the first post. You will also find details farther in the thread.

I didn't use that tweeter, I used one from an integration set. I would use whatever crossover came with it as you don't want it tasked with providing fill outside of it's range.

Update to budget audio install
Installed using the same factory setup
Assembled to my new bracket. I used tie wraps for the bundle.
I want to thank Conrad for creating this amazing thread. I want to help this thread with some updates from my install. To start I want to note that I'm very fastidious about my car stuff. With that said, here some photos of my install. I made some changes to Conrad's (ryem3) setup.
First I chose to use the Isn 100 as my front mid and tweeter and only used the 8" woofer from the ISS200 set for the front stage . The rear uses the tweeters from the ISS200 in conjunction with a set of A/D/S 234is. I had these stashed away for a few too many years. Lol. Anyone who is a long time audiophile will know who A/D/S were.
I'll add the photos of my front door mids and rear install. The rears are setup as factory separates. I designed and 3D printed my own brackets that utilize the OEM attachments. I also cut up all the 3" bose midrange speakers to strip the connectors. This becomes all plug and play and no cutting the factory harness.
Also, Im testing a full range drop in for the center channel.
More info soon...
Used Bose plate rather than using MDF
Purchased an extra set of used tweeters and dremeled the connector. This makes the tweeter plug and play
I found a better alternative to the Dayton audio woofer. This baby has an Fs of 36hz. Cast basket and poly cone. The best part it's has the exact bolt pattern ~5.5". It sounds sweet!

The subs are available from Madisound. The brand is SB acoustics. The part number is shown in the photo.

A pic is worth a thousand words. Without a pic, an airbag wire is very distinctive and the plug has a serious lock at the connection with the airbag.

I just bought this setup
2 x IS 200 - 8" Woofers and 2 tweeters
4 x IC 100 - 4" Co-Axial speaker set
2 x TIS 1.5 tweeters
along with 2 Focal Utopia Be WS 13 5" subs as they get into the mid 30s for Frequency Response
to do the same project in my RUF 997.1. Not sure when I'll get around to it, but based on all the positive feedback in this thread, really looking forward to the improvement.
