997.2 spark plug change
997.2 spark plug change
I was looking for DIY post for spark plug change on the 997.2...
Dealer was wanting $695 !!! About $100 a plug, LOL.
Please post any links for the DIY instructions as I may make it a project during the winter. I only have 13K miles but I think they recommend 4 years also. I assume they don t want the plug threads to seize?

My dealer ended up charging me a little less than 500.
The set is a 100 USD at suncoast.
It is not the low level DIYer. It requires some small hands in order to get to the front cylinders/coils.
Here is a link for the 997tt ( I know it is different and the turbos are in the way, but in thenormally aspirated one the mufflers are)

Good luck.

There's a very detailed link for a 997.2 on here or Rennlist. Will post it later when I get to my laptop. It is different than on a 997.1 (much easier) and essentially involves:
1. Remove tires and mufflers (top bolt on muffler is difficult to get to)
2. Remove engine heat shield
3. Remove ignition coils
4. Remove plugs
This gives you complete access to all the plugs without having to reach too much. Remember to torque the plugs to 22 ft/lbs!
Also, I changed my ignition coils when I did my plugs. The conspiracy theorist in me tells me that Porsche recommends a 6 year interval on these (as opposed to 4 with the plugs) to get you back in Service for another $500 visit.

Not too hard to do. Take off the rear wheels one at a time. Have a set of torx bits and good ratchet set with at least one elbow joint your best oragami hands and a cup of coffee. There are three plugs per side under the heat shield. Takes a good two hours though.
911cv,
See the link in my post, just above yours. I beat you by 3 minutes.
