It's only about a 25lb in weight savings. If it were me I would just add more power.

The 50lb savings is a myth. I replaced the sunroof on my car with a solid roof and headliner from a GT2. I weighed everything going in and out and the total savings is 27lbs. The important part is the fact that it is weight coming off the highest point on the car. Using a carbon roof panel will save another 8lbs over the OEM solid roof (17lbs vs. 9lbs). I track my car and did not want a carbon roof shattering into sharp splinters in case of a rollonver so it was a no go for me. The solid OEM roof panel is only about $500 and about the same for an alcantara headliner if you can find a used one. I bought one in perfect condition on ebay for $450. Labor will be about $2000 and you will have to replace the windshield during the process so add another $500 for an OEM windhield. Total conversion cost using OEM parts will be right at $4000. Another less obvious benefit to the solid roof is the fact that you will gain about 1" of headroom which comes in handy when wearing a helmet.

Shipping would cost you a lot because you're in Kuwait, adding more power would be easier for you, and more fun heheh

Well am still confuse about getting a carbon roof or just light weight , some told me , very light roof will make noise inside the car .. So it will be bad idea , as am driving the car AS daily drive ..

I just want to remove all the weight up the car and save 50lb !!

I guess I'll say it again. It is physically impossible to save 50lbs via a solid roof conversion. Keep dreaming. Read my post above. The factory solid roof is welded to the car. You will not get any noise if done properly. The carbon roof is glued to the car and I would only do it if the car had a full roll cage built in and the driver was wearing a helmet. That's just me.

A metal roof is simply a thin skin (1/16"?) and once it's torn, buckled, etc, there is no strength remaining anyway. I would assume the structural components under either skin are nearly identical. Along with the rest of the chassis, that is where strength in a serious accident comes from.

Cars are designed to crumple upon impact of a relatively large object. A high speed side impact with something that is not a relatively large object, a tree in this case, does not provide enough surface area for the components to crumple as designed. It has nothing to do with the material of the roof skin.

YSFG35, got your PM. Here is the link detailing the sunroof delete mod I did last year.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...elete-mod.html

This should answer most of your questions. Prices are in the thread. I ended up not purchasing a new headliner as I found an alcantara one on ebay from a wrecked GT2. It was in mint condition and cost me $450 shipped.
