Low headlights...

Anyone know how to reset whatever it is that controls the height of the HID projector? For whatever reason, the headlights on my car are pointed very low and makes seeing the road at night somewhat difficult...

I've often thought the same for my car. Next time I bring it in for service, I'm going to have them check it out. I know the sensors for leveling the lights are on the rear suspension and I can see that the lights self adjust height wise each time I turn them on. But they do seem to be a bit low.

Same here. I've even paid to have them re-adjusted and they still look low. Apparently it's the official specs in order not to blind oncoming traffic. I suppose it's because the car is so low--they would need to be angled upwards a bit to cast further, which could affect oncoming drivers.

Yup, I've got the same issue. Driver side especially. There is an adjustment in the manual, which is on my list of things to do. If I can get time this coming weekend, I'll give it a go and report back.

Yep, thats the thing...my headlights dont auto adjust when they are first turned on. And my last 5 cars have had HIDs, and 3 of them were also really low....but I cant see far at all at night...its a real issue.

These headlights almost always have a manual adjustment, just need to find out how to do it. Should be pretty straightforward...where in the manual is that listed?

If you switch on your headlights, then turn the ignition key to the on position, do both headlights go through their full range of up & down movement & then park themselves at the lowest setting? Also, a quick way to test them is engine running, lights on, flash the brights/main beams, you should see the HID's raise a little then return to normal once the brights/main beams are switched off. There is a level sensor on the front & rear left lower control arms, make sure they're still plugged in. I have changed a couple of the modules for leveling issues before (it's not that common though). Hope that's of some use. Best, John newtickfordstservice.com

Thanks John...just tried that, they do not go through the range. How much are those sensors, and where can I purchase them? I will get under the car later today and see if either are not plugged in.

Mine looks ok to me, the drivers side seems a bit lower, but I hardly ever drive at night. Usually If I'm driving at night its to get back home or going out late night and I take the M3 with the HIDs and matching HID fogs (plenty of light)

hey guys, solved the issue myself last week. pulled the front wheels off and removed the panel which allows access to the headlight. There were two little screws there which I adjust to raised the projector, and now all is well at night!
