Post Season winding down...

I've secured winter indoor heated storage

The last few drives to see the fall colours have been great.
Was able to share the experience with cousin's visiting from out of province:

I was also able to take my wife out for her birthday dinner in the Aston to "Just Cooking" in Vineland, Ontario

Alas, then it was time to prep the car for it's winter storage.
I picked up a new fully automatic battery conditioner that will plug into the rear power outlet. i also checked fluids, adding air pressure to the tires and waxed the paint:

I also bought a used Vantage indoor car cover to use while it's stored for the winter.

Thumbs up Stored for the winter...

I recently changed my insurance policy over to Hagerty and brought the Aston to its winter home. I was pleased with the fit of the cover and a power outlet for the batter tender. This large garage is dry, heated and will be a safe home for my baby this winter:

I'll miss it but I will be motivated and ready to work on it this spring

Same here I put mine into storage on Wednesday night, like you I put extra air in the tire and check everything over, I also added some fuel stabilizer before filling up the tank and put some Bounce dryer sheet in the cab and trunk to keep the little critters away. 5 months or so before I see it again... I didn't have a place to connect my battery tender so I just disconnected the battery like I did last winter.

Lightbulb Starting to collect parts for spring servicing...

I already have the front rotors from Velocity and pads from Redpants ready:

Also will be replacing spark plugs with 70k miles on the odometer and assume they are originals coming out.

The front O2 sensors will also be replaced to clear an intermittment emission service warning and DTC trouble code:

I may also be in the market for a starter solenoid (or starter if not available separately). I've had intermittent clicks instead of starts when the RED lit starter button is pressed. It's happened on a hot day and also on a cold startup, so very confusing. Luckily so far it's fired on repeated attempts and never stranded me so far but I don't want to push my luck next summer.

I don't think it's the clutch switch as the button glows red when clutch is depressed. I don't think it's a faulty starter button either as the click sound comes from under the car (i.e. starter solenoid). Doesn't look like an easy starter swap and I'm sure the part isn't cheap! Time to research some more. If you have experience with this issue, please share what your solution was.

Meanwhile, I'm looking forward to the AMOC Canada East monthly Pub night tomorrow in Oakville, Ontario!

Cheers,
Ryan

from a video i've seen ,a guy named Tavarish attempted to change starter.
apparently passenger side header has to come out to make room for starter removal

Thanks Gary yes I have seen that video and found it entertaining that he posted on YouTube an unsuccessful repair attempt. I have used the search function and while similar topics come up, not my exact issue. I can always start a thread on it if I don't find out in the meantime...I will post details here once it is successfully resolved.

Awesome thanks for the page number.
Yes 5 easy steps on paper.
Removing to exhaust manifold makes me wonder if a header should go back on in it's place

If you're talking long tube headers, I like the way you think... if you're thinking no headers... thats a bit mad!

Post

Since the Aston is in storage, I finally gave some attention to the V8 6 speed S5
Got the windows lightly tinted before swapping over to the winter wheels and tires. Picked up a weather tech trunk liner and swapped over to winter floor mats. All ready for winter here in the "Great White North":

I've winterized also. I put floor mats in, and as soon as I roast the last mm of tread off my rears it's going to have a brand new set of shoes to traverse the frozen tundra.

Last year was pretty mild. I finally got to inspect my car on a lift today and it's still beautiful underneath. I was afraid of what the brine would have done but I saw nothing.

The Eagles keep rolling and it can snow 10' for all I care

Nice surprise arrived today...

I had no idea what it was (memory is good, but short) so it was like an early Christmas:

Arrived in great shape with the Redpants logo (in subtle black), Thanks again Rich.
The parts collecting will continue over the winter, I'm sure.
