Aston vs. Bentley
!! I was at a gas station in Baltimore city close to one of the "hoods" ...think HBO's The Wire... two unscrupulous looking chaps rolled up on me in a blacked out Riviera cab as I was filling the thirsty DB9...they looked upon me and the car with a sense of thuggish wonderlust
... I told them it's an just an old Jag...they replied "dang jag done changed da game 'n $hit!!! " then rolled out precariously
So maybe the Aston is the better choice then
!!

I try to keep the Aston out of the hood, but in the city it's so gentrified that you go through bad hoods sometimes to get to good hoods or to a place like downtown or certain districts. The Aston gets TONS of suspicious looks, many people have never even seen one in person, they think it's a Mazarati or something else...they know it's something special and exotic but they give you that suspicious look you reffered to kinda like they know what it is maybe but nah not really, well maybe kinda....etc...it's pretty wierd lol
I finally figured out what your were talking about. In Texas we refer it to as "a man humping a baseball". The men are much bigger here, and so are the *****.
Sorry for the confusion.
Since you brought up the old ours is bigger in Tx thing answer me this my "Big man". Are the female parts correspondingly bigger also??

So Sunir you were able to convince them with one sentence that it was not a Bentley? Does expose the ignorance of the group. Is it possible that the most ignorant are the most dangerous? That's a bad combination. If traveling in harms way my 9mm rides naked in the door storage compartment. ****ed and locked is prudent.
editHaHa I noticed the starred out area for the phrase to **** a gun.LOL

^^^ I convinced them it wasn't an Aston but dunno if I conviced them that it wasn't a Bentley, I think they would go for the Jag assimilation easier lol
I think Bentley's are more recognizable to the general public. People have seen more of them, the are on rap videos all the time as well as moving around heads of state at the same time...the only real exposure folks get to Aston Martin is James Bond movies or perhaps the occasional rap song reference.

Even with out knowing the cars both the Aston and the Bentley are easily praised for being very sharp and beautiful automobiles.
Sort of like everybody thinks the Ferraris and Lambos' are Yugos

My country, New Zealand, has the distinction of having the largest ownership per capita of Aston Martins (2011 stats). Of course, I didn't believe this when I read it, so I went to make some comparison at our national car sales website, TradeMe, and eBay.
Here's all AM's on sale: 164 on eBay, 27 on TradeMe.
Bentley is different: 161 on eBay, 4 on TradeMe.
So we have a good percentage of USA AM sales. Interesting though, I thought.

^^^ A lot of those AML cars are Vantages, Aston introduced the v8 Vantage to be a sports car market challenger to Porsche's 911 at the time and since then they have caught on popularity with many buyers, they are wonderful driver's cars, yet the flagship DB9/DBS still remain quite a bit lower in build numbers and fewer around and much harder to find therefor more rare.
I don't know how the model variations stack up in the Bentley world but I would imagine there are fewer Brooklands, Arnages, and Mulsannes then there are CGT cars, correct?

Finally got my ride out of cosmetic surgery and she looks good. Then while testing her new upgrades, and older chick in my hometown with a tuned up 2012 Maserati decided to speed check me around the Grand Prix circuit. Needless to say, I think she will want a Bentley after that. 650hp and higher in a few months girl. All show and alot more go for this little boy

Wow, what a thread.....glossed over clubbing, racial profiling, and cross gender driving!
Sunir, you and I have a lot in common - I went to Johns Hopkins for undergrad, and we always used to hit Georgetown and DC - Spy club, Z, Vault, 5th Column used to be the Best!!! then turning into the Bank! Remember Tracks???
But the meat of the matter is that you are "driver" - you race like I do, and you like the sporty feel and feedback of fine machinery. I'm on my 2nd Aston, and it wins hands down in the elegant curves, and exterior beauty. I like my DBS for its sporty handling and power and torque.
Here is where we are different - I'm married with 3 little boys. I have considered a Bentley for a realllll long time.........but for my wife.
I wouldn't mind cruising in it and mashing the pedal down, but it's just not my kind of car. It is a luxury car. I was considering a Mulsanne because it can seat 5. I have had a dilemma in wanting to replace my M5, but can't do it. I need the sporty feel of an automobile.

^^^ Wow Plastiqee we do have a lot in common! What do you do I figure something in Med since you went to Hopkins...I'm Va Tech and then a stint at Dartmouth.
What a small world! I can't believe you guys know a lot of the same places and are so deeply rooted to the DC and surrounding areas. Guys like you and Wedgeduck and my 6speed brothers always have a place to crash in MD/DC/VA...one of the best things about our enthusiast community is knowing and getting to be friends with like minded people all over the country and world for that matter.
... oh and we are waiting for the DBS pics in the Aston forum!...you know Racer_X and I have to rib ya a bit about leaving Lotus...now what about that avatar of yours
haha lol!

. Guys, you can have a Bentley thats quicker than SH#T. Tuned up to 850hp to 1000hp. It's a matter of funds. And it's also luxurious.

Since this is turning out to be a AM vs CGT facedown, here's some meaningless viewer figures for 6speedonline threads, rounded, today:
AM - 36,500.
CGT - 11,600.
AM has its throng of admirers!
