Permanently Disable Start-Stop Function

New to us '20 Bentayga has the annoying Start-Stop feature that shuts off the engine when sitting at a traffic signal and restarts it when your foot comes off the brake. There's a button on the lower console to turn it off but you have to do that every time the car is started. One way to permanently disable it is through VCDS by changing the Stop-Start battery voltage threshold from the default setting of 7.8v to 12.1v which leaves a persistent message on the dash.
I then found this little wiring harness that plugs into the switch for VW cars and have asked the company if it'll work on the Bentley. I'm guessing that they won't know. If anybody here knows please advise.

Congratulations on your new Bentayga! Let me know if you find a permanent solution. FYI, what I do is switch to sport mode, which disables the stop start feature, but as you said, it needs to be done every time you get in the vehicle.

That's a good idea but would require doing some wiring harness modifications that might jeopardize the 1 year warranty that came with the car so I'm reluctant to do that at this point.
The b2bfab.com folks responded and they don't have a product for that harness so I'm going to try the VCDS voltage threshold method.
Watch this video starting at 2:30 for details:

Well, the video above is older and not specifically for a Bentley so the option shown for the voltage threshold doesn't exist. What does exist is shown below but I'm not sure what each option will do. Any guidance is appreciated. If no one knows I'll just start trying them this weekend to see what happens.

Don't have any firsthand knowledge to offer, but I think I might try option #2 first - "Stop prohibition: no start request."
Good luck!

Having done some more interweb surfing, I found a discussion on an Audi forum saying that the change works but reverts to normal operation after a restart making it useless. Another way is to change the outside temperature threshold for the S/S which I'll look for when I try again. When the OAT is below the value the S/S won't operate. The default is -50C which means it always works unless you're in Siberia in the dead of winter. If the option is there I'll set it to +50 so it'll only work in Death Valley in the summer.
I'll update as I try things.

Bruce, I recently spoke to the Ross-Tech people about permanently disabling the start stop function on my 20 GT. They indicated that using HEX-V2 Interface with built in license along with the latest version of the VCDS software will, in fact, allow permanent disabling of the stop start function but in the same message provided a pretty serious disclaimer, which is completely understandable considering the rather severe fines the EPA has been issuing to companies involved in such activity over the last few years.

Were you using the latest version of their software to attempt this change?

VCDS is compatible with the Bentley Continental GT 2020 model.
The HEX-V2 Enthusiast interface is also compatible with the Continental GT.

As to turning off stop/start, that is an emissions related system function. Ross-Tech will not be a party to enabling the shutting down of any emissions related systems. While the tool may be used to do
so, Ross-Tech will not assist in any way. Others will have to be your source for help on this subject. Owing to legal liability, we cannot be part of defeating government mandated systems.

As to general maintenance and oil service, VCDS will allow the user to reset the service intervals for the reminders.

Yes, running 23.3.1 which is the latest. There's a beta but I haven't tried it. I received essentially the same response when I emailed them too. They did suggest I search the forums for an answer.

Latest update is that, unlike the Audi, Bentley doesn't have the voltage or temperature options (at least that I could find) so I tried "Stop prohibition: no start request," which did nothing - not even once. I may try the "System Malfunction" option next. After that, I guess I'll admit defeat until I can get my hands on a the 'center console wiring diagram' to identify the correct switch leads, but I'm not doing any mods till after the warranty is up. The folks at b2bfab.com said they'd like to work with me if I go that route.

On my new-to-me 2020 GT the auto stop 'feature" is really annoying and I always forget to press the button to disable it (unless wifey is with me, she acts as copilot and does it on start-up!).

I needed a better solution and found it after disabling it on our '24 Infinity QX60. On the Infinity, there's a little cable with a plug that goes into a socket on the battery's negative terminal. You slide the little clip, pull the plug and, voilà, no more auto-stop!

Well guess what? There's a very similar little cable with a very similar plug and very similar little clip on the negative terminal on the Bentley's battery. I unplugged it, started the car and got a message saying that Auto-Stop is not functioning and I should contact my Bentley dealer. The message disappears after a few seconds and I can happily drive without the annoyance. This applies to Bentayga's too.
