Rattle in the back

Before I run to the dealer and seek a warranty fix -- got a 2010 Cayman S with about 17k miles on it. VERY easy life so far. Lightly optioned - does have the 19" combo. I've got a very persistent rattle back behind the passenger compartment somewhere. Relatively low frequency (as rattles go) - just about any bump the rear suspension hits generates the noise. Sounds like something is actually loose --- anyone had anything similar? Driving me crazy - and I don't see anything obvious under the hatch. Have done a good bit of checking/shaking/etc. to try and replicate it when the car's parked - all with no luck. Haven't been under the car yet. Placing rear spoiler in up position has no effect.

Eventually discovered that - and at the Cayman Registry. Added some felt in the right spot and adjusted the rear hatch stops -- quiet as a mouse. Well, more like a cat stalking a really quiet mouse.

Oh man.....glad I ran across this! I am going through the same thing with 2010 Cayman S, driving me crazy!!!! So it is actually the rear hatch/stops that need to be adjusted?

I believe that with time, the rubber compresses and loses some of its elasticity, sort of like your running shoes after you've ran several hundred miles in them. Backing them out a little compensates for that. Some people add felt as an added measure, mine didn't require it. Best of luck.

Good to know! I really thought I had some suspension issues to work out.....but it has been so cold here, I was waiting until Spring to address it. Hopefully this should take care of it! Thanks again!
