Kind of Long and Somewhat Boring...
As the 'driving season' winds down, I have the last 5 months of ownership to look back on. With delivery in the beginning of June, I had no idea what to expect throughout the summer.

I knew I would enjoy driving my car, but I had no idea all the great people I would meet and all of the incredible cars that I would see at so many different events and drives.

I would have loved owning and driving my car in a vacuum of the outside world, but the friends and camaraderie have been such huge parts of my overall enjoyment of my car. Thanks to all of you that I've talked to on here and on 6speedonline and ferrarichat, all of you that I've been lucky enough to meet in person, and especially those whose events and drives I've been invited to be a part of.

Looking back, it's easy to see how I went from 7,500 miles at delivery to yesterday tipping over 14,400:

June - My first ever C&C, at Katie's, the weekend after I got my car, Katie's C&C, M-fest in Baltimore, EuroSport DC drive, Le Belle Macchine d'Italia - Poconnos
July - C&C, BullRun#2 to Frederick, MD, Lancaster Polo Club Event, BR#3 to Boonsboro, MD
August - Motors at Marrakesh in DC, BR#4 to Fairfield, PA
September - Baltimore Grand Prix, BR#5 to Shepardstown, WV, Mason-Dixon Rally, Cigars and Scotch at Panache
October - Katie's C&C, Camp Hill C&C, Adams Detailing Clinic in Mechanicsburg, PA, BR#6 to Summit Point Motorsports Park, WV, Katie's C&C, Brunch at Brix, Amish Run #2
November - Frosty ***** Drive

I had no idea there were so many meets and drives happening around here. It is a great way to truly 'drive' your car as well as hang out with some pretty cool people.
To anyone out there who enjoys their car in relative solitude, you have a lot of amazing opportunities just beyond the driveway.

Awesome thread Kev. Couldn't agree with you more. I picked up my car in December last year and had no idea all of the events that we going on all around me. We really have one of the most extraordinary car communities in the country.
gotta agree with everyone & thanks for the writeup. Youve got a killer Gallardo, surely matches the personality. Look forward to more cruises, meets, shows etc. in the near future with ya man! cant believe its already winter tho (well almost lol) :/
I know! The summer and fall just went so fast. The events I wasn't able to get to this year I'm looking forward to next year.
PS-when you're home, let me know and we'll go for a drive.

Totally agree!
This has been a great summer...I feel unbelievable fortunate to have met so many great people and of course to be able to drive a great car in the process!!
Onward to next year.

I go through serious withdrawal symptoms once the driving season comes to a close. I start putting together my routes for the next season and start path finding new roads with the VW. I hope to do 8 Bull Runs next year weather permitting. 2011 was a very rainy year but we were able to get in some outstanding runs.
I also plan to put together a weekend trip to "Tail of the Dragon" in the late spring...
I'm not much into the C&C events but I do love to drive. Spring can't get here soon enough for me

Tail of the Dragon is fun!!! I've been numerous times when I had my bike. We once road the skyline drive / blue ridge parkway down the whole way. Did it in 2 days...very sore riding a sportbike.
