Just bought another Aston today
Going to Allero Green with Yellow accents immediately put it into the "more flashy"camp over the standard issue grey's with onyx interiors (what I have)…
so going to a 2 tone interior with a light and dark mix set off by yellow stitching… NAILED IT my friend! Seriously, Even without seeing pics, had you described to me that was what you were doing, I would have been right there with you cheering you along. It really is a great combo and IMO looks like something Aston would have done themselves deliberately! It really looks very thought out and purposeful! Well done!

Did the car come from the factory with carbon exhaust tips installed, or were they installed at the dealer? Can we get a pic of the rear too?

^^^^ Neither. First of all, you should probably know that I never would have the dealer install something that I could/would do myself.
However, the carbon tips are a Q option and not part of the standard option list for the Vantage or any other Aston except the One-77. The standard exhaust tips for the GT are the textured black ones that are optional on the V12VS. That being said, I don't have the tips yet. Aston sent me a letter today to let me know they were having "quality issues" with the part and would keep me updated on when they will finally become available. No parts have been shipped yet, but mine are already paid for, so I'll post pictures when I get them in and install them on my car.

^^^^ Honestly, no, I haven't weighed them and I haven't even installed most of them yet. I guess I wanted to wait at least a few days before I start ripping bumpers and other parts off my brand new car.
Plus, it has been hot as hell here this summer and working in the garage is no fun when the temperature inside it is 98.5 degrees like it was this weekend!
But back to your question; I really don't care much for weight savings. The carbon parts I'm installing are merely for cosmetic reasons because I'm not a racecar driver and no amount of weight savings is going to make my car feel like an Elise. I just love the look of well made pre-preg carbon fiber and the genuine Aston parts look absolutely beautiful with that seam running down the center of the weave. That being said, I can attest that the V12VS carbon grille is, surprisingly, much heavier than I expected. In fact, I think it might weigh more than the standard slat grille. This added weight is due to the fact that it has a metal interior frame to keep it rigid and not distort its shape when you screw the metal mesh onto it.

Absolutely stunning car Karl,
If you or any member reading this would like some suggestions or help with your paint correction and coatings, I have plenty of experience with that and can give you some really good information and options. I learn things about detailing every day, so enjoy helping others if possible. Please email or pm me about that, you probably know what you are doing anyway, however new items on the market you might not know about.

^^^^ The only questions I would ask have to do with what paint coating to use: semi-permanent or permanent. I was planning on going with Detailer's Paint Coating which lasts up to 2 years. But since the paint is new and the amount of swirls, holograms, etc to be corrected is minimal, I wonder if using a permanent coating would be better. I'm concerned about the application process on those coatings because, if you screw up, you pretty much have to sand it off.

Granted, they may have been developed as part of the Q program for the One-77. The brochure, however, clearly reflects that they are now a GT offered option.
Carry on....
Front end looks great, much better than the "regular" factory lipstick. Gaydon, take note please!

FWIW, this statement is not accurate. In actuality, the carbon tips are offered as an option for the GT. If you check the brochure for the GT, you'll see them listed there. Also listed there is a carbon fiber parcel shelf.

For the life of me, I cannot locate where I said that theparcel shelf and the carbon fiber tips were options that could be spec’d…. Anyhoo, since you are the resident Vantage V8authority, I’ll leave you to your thread alone
