Easy now Kev, the motor will be back in the car ........ not tuned. It will be broken in and tuned on the dyno. "Standing still" will have to wait a few days after KA is delivered down south.

I finally got S Car Go Racing to send me some pics of the case. They really didn't want to show it in detail. Many of the case modifications were performed under the guidance of a former Porsche Team 962 engine builder.

We have all the parts in our possession. All machine work and coatings have been completed. In a very short time the motor will be assembled.

Will post pics of the assembly starting late next week.

So what does S Car Go think of the new "Spanish" case?

Strength wise, it is superior. We had an earlier case quite a ways along with machine work and abandoned the case for the Spanish case. Of course like with any case you need to closely examine it and then pressure test it prior to commencing any machine work as the machine work is far more expensive than the case.

All of the case dimensions precise vastly exceed normal acceptable standards. In addition it has been aligned bored, shuffel pinned, windage detailed and machined for the GT1/935/962 oil system.

Thanks Chad. Good to hear that the new case is ready for the horsepower about to be unleashed onto it.

Look closely and you can see some of the windage details.

Before. Square edges on the supports make for turbulance.

After. Rounded shoulders equals less turbulance and more torque.

This was all done on a CNC mill. There will be a very slight amount of hand work performed.

After.

03-tubo911,

The case modifications to the oil pump will really help in the longevity department. Especially in high g turns and acceleration. I'll have pics later, but one of the three oil pick ups pull the oil directly from the heads. The other mods are mainly directed towards reducing windage power loss between 6500 and 9500 rpm's.

The bottom end will be assembled this week. The heads next week. Then the following week the motor will be installed. From there it goes to the tuner for ECU adjustments.

Anyone with a street legal 996tt/GT3/CGT care to set up a contest of their choosing, PM me? Prefer it to take place in my local area, Infineron or Thunder Hill.

Now mate the windaged case to a windaged crank and rods and the hidden power and torque will begin to materialize. Pics of the assembled unit should be available tomorrow.

Stock GT3 R crank.

Windaged (knifed edged/lightened/reduced journal sized/stroked/nitrated) crank and windaged rods.

Again, stock Spanish Case

Windage or Boat Tailed Spanish case.

A close up of the GT3 R crank.

And windaged rods which only took us three custom sets made to obtain the final product we were looking for. The wrist pin side has two oil holes instead of one while he journal side is reduced to 2.0" diameter and machined for special oval bearings. Every exposed angle has been windaged.

The assembly of the bottom end has been balanced to perfection. We began the assembly this week. Hope to have pics tomorrow.

03turbo-911

As an explanation of why the "Spanish" case is stronger, look at the pic below.

Note the five indentations on the outside of the case align with the cross webs (that have been boat tailed) on the inside of the case. These indentations (boxed structures) provide extra rigidity and strength to the crank assembly.

Here is a pic of the inside of the earlier case that preceeded the "Spanish" case.

Note the tiny internal supports that extent from the crank web blocks to the sides of the case.

There really is a huge improved difference between the two cases. Especially if you are making big torque and/or high rpm's.

I hope I conveyed this properly and didn't lose or confuse anyone.

Thanks for the explination Chad. I was interested because I heard that the "Spanish" case is alot stonger than the old one but was curious about the reason behind the factory's decision to change cases.
