This motor has taken far longer. The displacement is remaining at 4L.

I think they are waiting for it to start raining before they finish.
Actually, S Car Go Racing is only part of the problem. I just learned this morning that my front and rear differencials won't be ready until about a week after the racing season ends in late October.

We are using the Porsche MS billet LSD from the RSR which is a geared LSD. The front is also a LSD except it is a baised LSD.
On tight turn courses it will be a little work. On long turn courses ............ just hold on.
The g forces that can be attained are remarkable. It actually works very well in conjunction with the PSM that has the TB shutdown eliminated.Another plus is the off the line acceleration is amazing.
Wow, just spent the last few hours going through this thread (from around page 50 or so) as I had read the first half a while ago.
A lot of work has been done to the car, but it seems the most time has been spent on the engine. From what I gathered, I'm not sure what happened to the original 4L motor.
Motor #1 had stock internals, and one an aggresive 0-60 5 rods were bent in this engine.
Motor #2 was developed along side this first engine but the internals ere modified, increased displacement to 4L etc... but what ever happened to it?
Motor #3 is what has been discussed in the last 40 or so pages of this thread, expecting to make 1200hp or so and rev to 9,500 RPM.
Also Chad you first stated that the car weighed (back in February 2004) in at 3,192, but then later at 3,092? Which one is correct?
Lastly, you started that MPSC tires have always been run on the car, but I thought you also ran Toyo's and Hoosiers?
In any case CJV, I wish you the best of luck and I do hope that this project does end day see an end and that you can enjoy it once again.
Cheers.
PS: and sorry for all the questions, just I'm a very curious person

The second motor is dissassembled at S Car Go. We intend to resassemble it in a fairly mild state this winter .......... 102mm pistons, Pauter rods, GT3 oil pump. That's going to be it. I just don't trust the original cases.
Actually, to get the 1200 hp I would need larger turbo's. Not really to excited about this due to the accompaning lag. Since we have both sets of turbo's and headers we can make up our mind later this month. With the heads, cams etc., the redline will be a safe 9500.
The car has been weighed at 3192. The 3092 is an estimate based on additional reductions like seats and bumper bars.
Michelin MS has always provided tires. I have tried Hoosiers with all of 210 miles of wear until corded. Never had Toyo's on the car.
Frosty, don't worry about the questions. I enjoy answering them. Sometimes though I get a little embarrassed like the time I met Teflon and his mom and dad at S Car Go Racing so he could see KA. After fielding a few of Teflon's questions it was obvious he remembered more about KA than I did.
Well if i'm not imposing
...
I do have a question about the seats. What did you end up going with? I know you were looking at Cobra seats but I'm curious as to why you didnt go Recaro or Sparco.
I'm looking at getting aftermarket seats myself and am curious as to what you have found in your research? What were your main criteria? Was it weight, asthetic, comfort, or something else?
TIA

Frosty,
Here is some information on my favorite seat.
The Evolution Technology GT is the ultimate Supertouring seat. It features the same 100% carbon fiber shell and NASA-developed Confor ® foam found in the Suzuka Technolgy with the addition of an integrated lateral head restraint. Its carbon shell construction offers outstanding rigidity with a 50% weight savings while the Confor ® cushions mold to the driver, absorbing 85% of initial energy distributing loads for the ultimate in comfort and safety. The Evolution also features alcantara anti-slip fabric and leather wear patches for hard-wearing good looks, dual, independent leg cushions, and a deep-sided ergonomic shape for lateral support. Exceeds 3 times FIA 8855-1999 standards @ 63g. GT width (+50mm), will accomodate 5 or 6pt harness systems, and require alloy side mounts. Available in black alcantara suede only.
I like the heat temperature molding foam. I also like the split bottom cushions. The legs support separately. I am going to have them refinished in leather.

Prior to 6speed it had tens of thousands of views on Rennlist and before that on funcars.
That is what Frosty was refering to as topics that never appeared on this thread.
If you combined all the views it would be well past 150,000.

We moved it from the 6speed turbo/GT2 forum to the Tuning and Modifications forum. If it had stayed on the turbo/GT2 forum the views would have been alot higher.

Sorry about all the delays in completing the car. Just curious, all the delays that I remember since spring had to do with the pistons and other engine components. Since you were expecting everything else to be ready by 4th of July, how is the differential now taking until the end of October. Since it's unrelated to the engine components, had you changed what you ordered or was there just a surprise 5 month delay in completing the diff's.
Thanks

We spent a couple months conducting some tests with another 996tt. We made the required part modifications and retested. Everything was a go. They had the rear differencial but they needed my transmission and front differencial. S Car Go Racing sent it to them in late August with the understanding they would be ready and returned by the end of September. When I placed a call at the end of Sept. I spoke with the owners wife and she said her husband was still tied up on the race circut and wouldn't be back with any available time to complete the work until late October. I told her since my motor was delayed, late October would be fine.
Now to answer your question, back in May/June we didn't know what we know now. Back then we were going to use a rear differencial from the Cup Car (cast differencial) and no change of the front differencial. Those plans have now gone out the window. We are using a RSR Motorsport geared rear LSD and a custom modified biased front LSD with cooler.
OK, here goes the assembly.

Crank is a GT3 RSR crank which has been lightened (knife edged) balanced, stroked, reduced journal sized, nitrated, polished and blue printed to very near zero tolerences.
And now the secret sauce. How many tuners are going to give out this kind of information on custom rods/dimensions. In addition these rods are balanced to the assembly and have two oil holes on the wrist pin side to promote lubrication
The journal side has been designed to accept NASCAR oval bearings to better tolerate the extreme redline.
Hope to have some case assembly pics by the end of this week before Rob goes on vacation.
