Your numbers are AMAZING! 114 degrees and made 800!!! In cooler weather you will gain 100 more hp? Congrats!

I spoke with Rob @ S Car Go Racing. I am going to go up to his shop next week to take a look at the motor.

It ought to be interesting. Not many 4.2 liter 996tt's out there. The torque on this motor should overshadow just about everything out there (Porsche's that is) on the street.

Divexxtreme reported on his thread that his intake lift @ 0.432 and 237 degree duration and exhaust lift 0.400 @ 216 deg duration.

We are running a bit more lift and duration on both cams. It is amazing how these motors will vary regarding cam specs.

As a comparison, we are running for the intake about .075 more lift and 60 degrees more duration. The exhaust about .040 more lift and 70 degrees more duration.

Actually it is almost 81.6 mm. The NASCAR oval bearings are smaller than the stock Porsche bearings. While grinding the crank it is offset another .02 mm. Then it is knife edged and lightened, cross drilled, micro polished, nitrated and balanced. The pistons are 105.5 mm.

These big bore long stroke engines make a very unique sound when on throttle. I wonder what yours will sound like. The 4.2L engines sound so very different. Quite amazing sound if your into engine sounds. It is so easy now to tell who has stock bore size and who has big displacement.

I cannot wait to hear from you what it sounds like. Oh BTW, they go like stink too.
I went with Neil's stock billet crank (arrow precision) and then modified it. I did not use the pistons and rods because the Mahle pistons would have to be cut too much to accomodate our valve lift and with nitrous I wanted more beef up on top. His pistons would have been lighter.

The 4.0L and above make more and along with the engine sound note, the Torque is the other main factor in telling just what they are made of.

Welcome to the club of big displacement. You will not be disapointed.
Simon,

We should be making around 1200 hp @ 1.3/1.4 bar. Remember, this motor is also set up for a 200 shot of nitrous. With the modified head studs, washers, head gaskets along with the dual o-ringed heads and liners...... the boost numbers could be pushed upward north of 2.5 bar.

This motor will be at max torque around 3000 rpm's. I really doubt if we will be doing any off the line starts as the dive train would fail.

What mod would you do to the drive train if you decide to make it handle

John,

We have modified the drive train. Changed all six gear ratios, billet straight cut teeth, steel syncro's, oil strayer, tranny cooler, solid tranny mounts, GT3 billet rear differential, 993 built front differential, T300 drive line, front and rear LSD, custom front and rear axles. The clutch is a three disc Tilton.

It has all been gone through, however the weakest link will break first and the next would follow. I really don't know how to make the drive train handle it from a standing start.

Hi Chad
So, how is it going?
I thought you mentioned the car would be finished by last week;
any news?
Many enquiring minds want to know.
