Demon LMAO
Ah perhaps this video of the press event was the same one as the others and they were using the in-vehicle performance data recorder? That's certainly possible.
What cracks me up is here is a car 200lbs lighter, systems and tires specifically designed for a harder launch and cooler IATs, and 101 hp more than a Hellcat, and you guys are doubting low 10s while the stock Hellcat does low 11s on stock tires and high 10s on DRs only.
Hilarious.

Rob, I like all muscle cars and I'd like to have one of these to tinker with. I've personally never seen a stock hellcat run low 11's a stock 707hp hellcat can't beat my 535whp Camaro in the half mile and it's not even close. to date weve never seen the Demon run anywhere close to what they say it will run we are coming up to cooler weather so hopefully we will see. Red list coming up in December I'm beating there will be one there and we will all find out. FYI even if it can't launch 100% with Dr's it should be a lot closer to the 140mph mark then that last presser!
Time will tell, and its always going to be fun to see.
I just watched 6 or 7 You Tube press test drive/reviews..looked like invitational events from Dodge..not one allowed or posted et times nor speeds...a few drivers used the oncar timing system and reported mid to high tens low to mid 130 mph..they all expressed the difficulty in getting a good launch...I surmise the best launches will be had by only seasoned drivers. They also state the car is designed for the ultimate 1/4 mile trap therefore I would not expect to see blistering 1/2 mile event traps...none the less it will be interesting to see their realistic performance once they hit the street..
It will never out 60ft the Porsche except on the stickiest(trackmeter>1000) track
American manufacturers don't get it and probably never will. Keep throwing big noisy engines in cars. However, when it comes down to it, they just can't compete....I guess you have to be a professional to drive the dodge because the average Joe isn't smart enough to figure it out. Wow Dodge! Way to put all that technology into the car as it's so useful for your customers.
Sorry, just got on a rant which isn't like me at all. I actually love all cars but am so disappointed in American manufacturers for not getting it. The PCARS are suited for road courses not drag strips or airstrips, however, the PCARS compete there and usually cross the line first..it is a drag race first!
line up the Dodge.......

You haven't heard about the C7 Z06? It runs 10's all day long...(some 15/16 models don't run well on a track due to overheating issues, I'll concede that).
I have a Stage III '16 991 TTS, and a stock C7 Z...and aside from launch, the Z06 runs as quick (if not quicker) at high speeds than my TTS...
So, big American noisy engine...yes, the way many of us like it, but certainly no slouch amongst high performance cars...and it was half the price of my 991. American manufacturers do get it, and last time I checked, the whole concept of drag racing originated in the US, with US made cars, many years ago...all using big displacement, noisy V8's. And they broke records time and time again.
My V8's sound so much better than my flat 6, it's not even funny...there's nothing great about the sound of a 3.8 flat 6 - no matter which way you look at it.
My S/C'd FGT V8 is unrivaled in the sound it puts out under WOT, idle -- whatever. My "big, noisy" C7 Z06 V8 sounds far better than any P car I own or have ever owned prior.
Vipers were Ring record holders for the longest time, until recently. They excel on a road course. Not great cars, but certainly fast and cheap!
My '08 Gen IV Viper holds the record for the fastest 1/4 mile on a bone stock Viper @ 10.92 only days after it was delivered.
That Dodge Demon is well under 100k...and bottom line, it will do a sub 10 second 1/4 mile! So it takes a skilled driver to do it, because it's RWD vs AWD, but last time I checked, a 991 TTS, even heavily modded, wasn't doing 9's. A stock 991 TTS can't even get into low 10's, so tell me, why is the Dodge a bad deal?
I just bought a Huracan Performante...and it's a V10 with a 5.2 liter engine, which is by no means, small, or quiet. And it's not American either.
Just my 2 cents - FWIW...
I think we will know more when private owners start taking them to the track. Historically cars perform better on private hands than on magazines' test drivers.
IMO the Demon should get into the 9s as claimed, assuming similar setup (skinnies, one seat, racegas) and some decent weather conditions.

Mrmd1956 is correct. If you can justify spending 150k - 200k + on an exotic supercar (which I have), how can you possibly not justify 70k for this machine. No it is not a 991 turbo and those who compare.... Well... I just don't what to say about that! Figure the Hp to $$ ratio for some modern American auto technology and it seems like a good deal to me. Heck.. this is worth 70k just as an around town stop light to stop light tire burner.
10.2 @ 134mph, stock front tires, no transbrake, not an experienced drag racer. May have been with race gas.

I DO love all cars - but I don't share your views

That out if the way, 160 is a lot worse than I thought for a Demon. Particularly because the weather was cold that weekend. Perfect for boosted cars. Elevation is near sea level. A stock 991 Turbo would have produced faster results at ~250 less HP.
It's a cool car for the dragstrip Im sure with a nice prepped surface and DRs heated with a skilled driver. But outside that very specific situation it cannot come close to producing the accel results as published by Dodge.
Manuel what's up brother Merry Christmas! Yes OmegaMotorsorts NoFlyZone are "half mile events" but the data I have they run more than a half mile. Total accel distance varies by runway. This event (NFZArizona) has the longest runway from what I have seen so they have a longer accel zone from my estimates.
