Lap Times Thread
I've learned that myself, there will always be days here and there where you get slower or something goes wrong.
I had a similar situation at RA last month, ran PB on my first lap on cold tires (wasnt even really trying) then downhill from there, failed bushings, loose sway, crazy handling etc.
Patience and dilligence with setupand maintenance(which is a lot even just for DE's) is the real key which is why engineers and track support costs so much. I think that's where a lot of us come up short.

HeavyC - Been busy at the track...here are some new times:
Watkins Glen 2:10 (997 GT3 Hoosiers/G2X)
VIR 2:08 997 GT3 (Hoosiers/G2X)
New Jersey Motorsport Thunderbolt 1:31 (997 GT3 Hoosiers/G2X)

Ryan, how much time do you think you gained at VIR from the Hoosiers over the R888's? I know some of it is you getting faster, but how did the tires feel?
Tires are night and day compared ot R888. Turn in is amazing. Compared to R888 you turn in much later because there is no lag...you just point and it goes. Tires are probably good for 1-1 1/2 sec at VIR. Although at Summit my faster time is still on the R888s (2/10th slower on the Hoosiers, but then again on the R888s it was a week after the repave so the track was super fast, and on the Hoosiers it was super slow because the track was completely tore up)
I noticed about the same difference in switching from Victoracers to hoosiers when I ran my Vette at VIR...
Ryan, I expect you'll be a fair amount quicker on Hoosiers at Summit now that they've fixed the pavement again!

All in a 2006 Lotus Exige (2000lbs, 190bhp only mods are brakes and an intake) all times in performance box. data available on request. thanks for keeping this thread updated.
Best,

Black Exige.
Anyway, do you happen to have any idea what Paige and his daughter were running in the 211's?
Heavy -
Just got back from my first visit to VIR. An incredible track and well worth the 2500 mile round trip. I wish I lived closer to this track - I could go every week if given the chance.
I have much to learn and need a lot more seat time. Overall my car ran very well. The only problem I encountered was my brakes were spongier than I like - even though I bleed them 6 times over the 2 days. I will have to work this out over the winter. I kept my speeds down due this but still had an absolute blast. This was the most technical track I have been on to date.
I was able to run a 2:12.5 on Hoosiers R6's. Full course. Timed on a driftbox.
There was two corvettes there running sub 2's. The first was a GT1 car driven by Simon Gregg - the son of the late Petter Gregg. He was running 1:56. The MTI corvette - which I believe is a world challenge car was running around 1:58.

Hopefully I can get back out there and take another crack at it after I get some more seat time. This was only my 7th time on a track and I dialed down the speeds due to the brakes being off. My car is faster and more capable than I am at this point.
Some updates here:
2:29 at MSR Cresson 3.1 mile CCW (997tt modded), 1st time at track, corded R6 front passenger side
1:58.9 at TWS running CW in traffic (997tt modded), corded R6 rear drivers side
1:57.8 at TWS running CW in traffic (stock 997GT2), Michelin (pseudo) Cups
also, I read somewhere Craig Stanton took a stock 997tt on street tires with a passenger out at Willow Springs and leisurely ran a 1:31, and thought the car had 1:29 in it.

There was some people there referring to it as one. I have seen the one that DRM built and a stripped Z06 has a long ways to go. In a field of street cars it stands out and people talk. I am more impressed with your time and the the Z06 and ACR that were running in the 2:05 - 2:07 neighborhood.

Trust me when I say we are all in the same boat. Even race teams feel most times like they can get more out of the car. We had 3 days on track at VIR and I still felt I needed more time to pick up the track and try new things. If I had put even a decently consistent lap together I would have run a 2:05. But I couldnt get an oak tree, keyhole, rollercoaster combo on one lap for anything.
Some new tires, instead of the old ones I was running and I hope to go much faster next time. The good thing is watching the seconds lop off in lumps initially when you improve.
But for a relative noob, you are doing well for yourself.
