(atleast my GTR can get away from your 996TT) OK cheap shot... I'm done...
WOW..your 60-130 is just .2 seconds faster than Ryan's K16 stock turbos with a flash...lol What an achievement. How much did you pay for all your upgrades to get to 7.74? and barely exceeds stock K16's? puny little German K16's? ok, cheapshot, I'm not done....

there is one huge advantage to the GTR, my mom can drive it with it's little auto trans. It takes hardly any skill to race an auto car in a straight line. who makes a sports car with no option for a manual trans. I'll tell you who, a company that does not want to loose the only edge it's car has, the trans. If the GTR had a manual tranny it would not easily beat a STOCK 996TT, they would be nearly dead even. power to weight ratio is nearly identical..

I'll be participating in the " forum wars" that is being promoted here with my 996 TT against the GTR. We shall see what goes down

For the $70-$80k you spend on a GT-R, you can't expect it to have a Porsche-like interior. The GT-R is miles ahead of the 996 turbo as far as performance goes. There's no comparison.

What's so special about the 996 interior anyways? It's as bland as it comes; oversized buttons, useless Nav, etc. With the GT-R, everything is integrated to the screen which itself has several functions. The only thing you can brag about is the leather covered surfaces, that's it. Now when it comes to the 997, it's a better quality all around car compared to the GT-R. It's a better package overall, IMO.

heavy - I sign my name when I post, although you might be afraid of posting your real name, i'm not...have the courtesy to use it when referring to me please. Thanks!

Peter

My name is all over this forum, I have nothing to hide. I'll call you what I want boy. Get over yourself.

Quote: I should have known better than to go against the grain and challenge anyone on a p-car forum in the 996 section. At the end of the day, the GTR is faster, brakes better, is quicker, can lap a track faster, is more technologically advanced, has a better interior, better ergonomics, etc...than a 996TT. If you all feel that the 996TT is still a better car, then no problem! Again, I should have known that would be your response... I will now learn from my mistake and make sure I never post in a 996TT vs. GTR thread again. Carry on now boys and enjoy...

Peter <--- ducking for cover and running!!!!!! (atleast my GTR can get away from your 996TT) OK cheap shot... I'm done...

p.s. thanks to the guy that has actually owned BOTH and has said that he went from the 996TT to the GTR and has never looked back...I wonder why no one caught on to that post!
Your 85k NISSAN can outrun a stock 996 Turbo, whoopie!

Not to mention you couldn't run very far without overheating. Your GT-R isn't getting away from many cars out here with such slow acceleration numbers.

IB Tim - LOL.....there is a FORUM WARS CAR EVENT happening at Irwindale, CA soon. The Irwindale event is a precursor to the TX2K10 Forum Wars (details of which haven't been announced).

heavy - still scared to post your name...nice...as for the GTR out-running a stock 996TT, what do you think this thread is about?????? Slow acceleration numbers? Really? 0-60 in 3.0s and 1/4 mile in 11.1@130 off the footbrake...I guess that's slow (although not the point of this thread). Overheating? Huh? I have road raced mine, drag raced it, and driven it hard, all in 100 degree 80%+ Houston humidity and there haven't been any issues with overheating. You pulling that one out of the same place as all of your other information????

jpvarg - thank you, another non-biased post...(there aren't many of them on this thread)

Yea, why is that confusing you Paulie? Maybe I should have used the phrase "participated in a Driver's Education program at a road course whereby the cars and participants were subject to multiple 30 minute sessions". Is that better?
Peter
p.s. it just hit me...you thought I was road racing down Westpark Tollway on the way to work...afterall, that is a road!

It was simply a question Peter no need to get all defensive with me.The reason I asked is I know it was in the shop for awhile after the break in & then at Boost Logic for upgrades,so I did not have any Idea that you had the time to put the car on a road course, sorry for asking such an offensive question.

Paulie, refer to the smiley's in my response... Use the following definition of smiley when reading my response:

- having fun, ribbing you a little, doing it all with a smile, nothing serious going on, laughing....

Now, can we get back to the topic at hand? I did in fact have to test out the TX2K10 course prior to booking it...
Peter

Guys, i've had fun, but I am now going to bow out of this thread. The bottom line is that you really can't compare an 8 year old car to a new car when you're dealing in this realm. If you take out looks and interior opinion, both of which are subjective, you have to look at the facts...

The GTR is quicker, faster, handles better, stops better, laps the track better, generates higher G loads, slaloms faster, etc...

It's not me being an a$$, rather me stating facts. The OP asked for a comparo and these are the facts, the rest is simply opinion. I urge you all to go back and read the post by the guy who went from the 996TT to the GTR...

Take care!
Peter
p.s. everyone that knows me in Houston knows that I am IN LOVE with the 996 GT2...even though this thread is NOT about the GT2, I would trade the GTR for one in a heartbeat...something about the exclusivity and overall package that I love on the GT2...

Quote: How would you compare a 996 Turbo to a GTR? Can a 996TT be easily modified to 550AWHP or higher for say $5-$10K?

I can sell my GTR and buy a 996TT with some cash left over that I can put back into the stock market.

What do you guys think?

In case you can't read PETER the OP wasn't comparing a stock TT to a stock GT-R, and 10k is more than enough to have a 996 TT run circles around a GT-R.

According to the OP he could buy a 996TT put 10k in it, and still have 2 996TT's worth of money to invest in the stock market.

Self ownage FTL.

I don't need to post my name, everyone here that is supposed to know already does, your childish dare games don't work on men.

If your car isn't overheating at the track you are far too slow, that isn't made up, go check for yourself, I've seen it with my own eyes and there are enough complaints out there that it's very substantiated.

You take pride in stomping the gas pedal and running low 11's? No skill involved. Sorry I want more out of my driving experience, I like to work together with the car for results, so you missed yet ANOTHER thing the 996 TT is better than the GT-R at.

boy, thank god I posted pics of all three interiors for all to see. The GTR interior is the worst, only someone with rose colored lenses would like it..

As for comparison, let me state again that the reason why NISSAN did not make the GTR a 6 speed manual, is because it would not have been any faster than a STOCK 996TT, the power to weight ratio of the GTR is identical to the 996TT, but the 996tt is the better car.

Gotta love how some can dish it out but can't take it. I guess that is what happens when you are in the JAY DEE EM crowd.
