More Boost Controller issues ... help

Ok, so since the mile I've had issues with my boost controller. I haven't really been driving the car much so its an issue i'm only really getting too deal with now. At first it was determined the solenoid may be bad, we replaced it and no improvement. Boost controller would not show above .75 bar. Last night Mr. Powell was kind enough to let me have his spare controller in addition to the Solenoid he had already given me to try. With the new controller the car now boosts 1.4 bar regardless of how high or low I set the boost. The car has ZERO boost leaks. I'm thinking I might just need to get a brand new Controller and Solenoid (which I actually received yesterday). It is puzzling me though that both controllers would be bad.

Any thoughts?

Also,

The wiring has been check for continuity etc. Everything is good on that end.

Is there anyway to reset the preferences on the Profec B? I seriously think the reason why it is acting up now is because I had it configured for a External Wastegate setup. Both of those parts worked flawlessly before I took them off the car. I do know on the HKS unit I had to specify Externals when I set it up.

Good luck on figuring it out Ben! I know how it feels when you can't be out boosting in this weather!

Thats too easy Mike I like making life difficult!

Can anyone chime in one whether or not the Profec II can be configured for externally gated cars vs. stock configuration?

The "setup" for external wastegates is a different routing of the vacuum tubing.

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...tegates-2.html

Have you tried running it off? It will work as a nice peak boost / boost gauge.

I would:
1) run it off, you should be riding your wastegate(s). If it is not then you have a electrical or mechanical failure / bad install. Look for a pinched line to the head unit, or the wrong ports plugged / hooked up.

2) If 1) results in a wastegate boost level then reset the greddy to stock and retune it using this guide:

http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how...b-spec-ii.html

Look for markski's guide here for the proper setup for internal wastegates:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ontroller.html

I am getting ready to go to external wastegates this winter, and have been doing some research.

Tom,

I really appreciate your post. I've got through the above actually using the exact links you provided. I just wanted to be sure there was no setting on the controller itself outside of wiring that was dictated specifically for external vs. internal.

It's definitely a combo of bad controller/solenoid.

It seems I recall my HKS EVC IV had an internal/external switch? Did you make sure there are no dip switches on the back or bottom for this?

I'm running the same controller on mine and it works fine.
It just needs to be routed differently the hoses Markski is a Master at the install.

B , im also running externals , there is not switch on the profec for internal /external gates, like corey said , the only diff is the lines thats it , and you will have play with the setgain a bit , but that should have nothing to do with the issue your having .

give markski a jingle he will help you out .

Ben, Steve should be calling you. I remember I had the EXACT same issue, and I don't know why it didn't click to me. He's going to have you test a few things. I ended up having to get a new reference from the Y-Pipe for the Boost Solenoid. Because of that problem that I swapped to External Wastegates hoping it would do something. Then I retapped that Y-Pipe and it fixed EVERYTHING! Hopefully that is the case for you.
