There was some part number screw up that wasted time but I finally got my PS return line and installed it. I took the car out this evening for some shakedown runs. One lifter was ticking at startup that had me concerned but it went away. Everything seems good. I'll keep you posted for when I start hammering on this thing.

Congrats. Nice work. May you and your motor lead a long happy life. :-))

You need to work on your shifting, tho, or you'll need a new clutch.

Thanks, it really was a fun project. I have 380 miles on it so far. Since I am using pistons and rings from Mark that have 20k on them already I figure I don't have to do the whole break in routine. I did a few 3rd and 4th gear pulls at partial throttle holding .8 bar. Everything seems good so I am going to do some full throttle logging pretty soon.

I feel like an organ donor and they had around 18k miles on them. I just hit 20k now

They are great so far. They ride well considering their limitations and are quiet. They do not pull left and right with the lines in the road. I have not done any hard cornering or launches yet but I've only heard good things about the performance so far. Tread life might not be that good at 240 treadwear.

Update. I've driven the car about 800 miles. When I started trying to get into the throttle I found it to be over boosting to 1.5 and 1.6 bar. While trying to diagnose this I put the stock exhaust and tune on to get it past emissions. I failed with a code showing that the cams are out of alignment. They must be set wrong which is really frustrating. I'm going to drop the motor again and have them aligned with the plates this time. My local shop just isn't experienced enough with this motor to get it right with the dials. I found the plates sell for $922.58 from Baum so I'm thinking I might just buy them and loan them out for a few bucks to anyone who needs to use them to recoup my money. I don't really feel like driving down to Vegas or Washington to have this done. At this point I'll pay just about anything to have it right.

That is a bummer, how many degrees of deviation?

You will also need the sprocket holding tool.
