Good story, kudos to staying cool about it. I often have people always wanting to race me, well, a fairly good number. I am thinking for the majority people think I have the rare GTX (Under 1300 sold in the US) - I'll never "race" to show-off in city circumstances, just too risky with pedistrians and other vehicles (as well, cops).

As far Z06's ...

Can't believe he'd even tempt racing a GT2
Knife, we appreciate your input and I'd be the last one, especially after my posts in this thread, to demean another's ride. But seriously, I don't think someone who drives an '89 Mazda should be laughing at a Z06. Sorry if I misinterpreted your close, but i don't think so.

Yeah Scott, you *** hag! I'd expect that trash talk here from a Z06 owner, but not you. Luckily, I also dissed you in another thread that you haven't found yet. I'll give you a hint though, the thread's initials are GGP and it was started by someone whose name begins with R. Let me know if you need any more help in finding it, Einstein.

That thread wasn't worth reading. I'll never get those few minutes of my life back. Thanks for the waste of time and bandwidth you old man.

Who you calling old! Unless that familial male-pattern balding looks worse in your picture than in real life, you are older than me.
Now Mom looks good for her age and probably is with you for your money. I've got half a mind to fly down there and teach you a proper lesson (fly-in fisticuff challenges are getting more popular nowadays here at 6-speed) and show mom a good time.

Bald!? Who you calling bald!?
I am ready to teach you a lesson now! Where do you want to meet to fight it out? (I suggest somewhere nice like the Virgin Islands or maybe even Acapulco.)
Anyway, let's do it! Mano a Mano you old geezer.

I told them that there was nothing to prove, everyone knows my car is much faster than that .... thing... that they were driving. Sorry, but I don't acknowledge Corvettes.

He said he knew that, but wanted to see if I could really drive a GT2. Hmmm... guess he hasn't seen me in the canyons?

I said, BRO, there is no way I'm going to do crazy **** on crowded public roads with all the traffic and pedestrians (we were on Cross Creek Road in Malibu). So he said, oh that's cool bro, and just went on his way.

What a moron. I'm glad I didn't stoop down to his level. It must suck to own a Vette, having a constant inferiority complex.

One thing nice about a GT2 is that you have nothing to prove to anyone. If you know how to drive it, you have comfort knowing that nothing this side of a Radical can touch you.
You make some valid points about not causing danger on a public highway, but in my opinion I do believe you're a bit over confident in your assumptions in general of others. I didn't read all the pages of posts, but wanted to reply to your assumed reasoning behind owning a Z06.

I should say I own a stock 2003 Z06. While it's admittedly not the quality of a 996 turbo it still is a fun car that entertains the nostalgic values of the American muscle car. Personally I enjoy keeping the American automotive industry active.

I purchased the 2003 Z06 for the purpose of testing. While it's not as quick as the GT2 it is faster than the base 996tt and handles just as good given equal drivers. For Slalom testing Road and track managed 67.8 mph out of the base 996 tt and 68.7 mph out of the GT2. The Z06 performed a 67.6 mph slalom. To me that seems to be a reasonable comparison of performance in the handling department. Of course if you wanted to have the cutting edge in handling and out perform the GT2 by a smidgen in some twisty road driving go ahead and buy the 28,000 dollar Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with its 68.9 mph slalom. LOL

Watch out for the 2006 Z06. It will spank your a$$ silly. Also watch out for current body style Z06s with the most basic of modifications. They too will distribute some embarrassment to your condiscending attitue.

In my opinion the reason for having any vehicle shouldn't be based on the value, prestige or having something you think others can't obtain. I own my cars simply for the love of the car. I'd much rather enjoy having a car for myself rather than having one to impress others.

For me and in my opinion your perspective and purpose of owning the Porsche GT2 would make the car a disapointment to drive.

Greg,

WTF? Don't you see this thread isn't about that? You're way off topic here buddy. This thread is for personal attacks and insults.

BTW, you're wrong about a stock Z06 being faster than a base TT. That has never been demonstrated anywhere.
So get on topic and start insulting somebody's mother or something.

IE. My mother in my Turbo could smoke your mother in your Z06

Corvette Challenge

Hamann brought up an interesting topic when revealing his "encounter". I did a stint(my only non-Porsche) in the Corvette Challenge in the early 90's. This series ran all over the country. Some of the most known road racing pro's went through this series with me AND we were all in identical, stock, sealed, Corvettes(well, almost). THIS experience was awesome and brought about the most amazing episode in the history of Corvette racing. Boris Said, Andy Pilgrim (this year's Daytona 24 hour winner plus owner of 4 other Rolex's), as well as many more that I cannot remember were in this series. We were, in addition to learning how to drive this car, given our first lessons in ABS!
Arguably, G.M. has performed poorly in sports car series)respective to money invested), this (to me) was their best program in over a decade. How they "dropped it" is indicative to their skill in shooting themselves in the sports car foot. thanks to Hamann for reminding of that. havefundriveporshchetakechances-Mark

Sorry bro, I just read the first post of the first page. Let me try a few insults. LOL

By my observation between 1250 ft and 1500 ft above sea level I've had sufficient proof that the 405 HP version of Z06 is faster than the base 996 tt, and particularly much faster once the 996tt is accompanied by your average Porsche owner trying to succesfully launch the car and shift between gears. I could seriously give some of the guys around my neck of the woods a four or five car head start and still roast by them before I hit 100. That's just my observation anyway.

By Dyno testing done at Dyno-Comp of Scottsdale, Arizona the Z06 and base 996tt have right about the same wheel HP except the Vette would need to be pulling a small size cargo trailer to match the weight of the Porsche, not to mention the drive line drag of the Porsche's 4 wheel drive.

Yo momma.

My views are ment to be in a casual and fun jaunting fashion. Please take no offence.

Mark, I don't really think Hamann's point was that GM dropped the ball with a Z06.
Scott, don't insult my new best friend Greg before he even has a chance to render an opinion that has been stated 10 times before here. Why are you calling him stupid?
As for us meeting for me to kick your ***, something tropical sounds good. My accountant tells me I have to knock a few of your teeth out and fix them in order for the trip to qualify as a business expense. Tell Mom to stock up on the Gerber!

Perfect. I'm a raging anti-dentite so kicking your *** will be fun!

Greg, you're experience was just plain wrong. Experience means nothing. It's what the magazines say that counts in the real world. Don't you know that? All the mags say the TT is faster, so it just HAS to be.

PS... I posted a thread below that has track video of me in my TT and you can see me passing a Z06... this proves once and for all that the TT is faster. Drivers have nothing to do with it. It's all the cars. hehe

I get on 6 speed infrequently, but THIS thread is the f===king most enjoyable piece of amusement on line!!!! I'm dying, but gotta go...BTW-my reply was so stupidly serious...I should be ashamed!
