Zo6 or 03 TT...need help!
I had the Z06 sold it purchased a 2004 x50 with over 20k of leather options. All I can say is I liked the X50 it had a great interior and a nice ride, It did not handle, brake, or run as good as the Z06.
So, I sold the X50 and purchased a new Z06.
I have raced in SCCA for 21yrs. and plan to track my Z06 at the next Porsche Driver Ed. event at Mid-Ohio. I know there will not be a stock turbo that can run with the Z06.

The zo6 is 3100 lbs. stock TT is 3500 lbs. no contest.

My Z06 has a 100000 mile warranty from the factory, the Porsche does not. careful on bashing GM for warranty. Everything I have read about the turbo eg.. type 2 overs revs deni warranty, RMS issue with no factory support, engine rattle, etc... is not great either.
I would rather have a new car for $70000. than somenones used car that you will never know how it was treated, no matter how good the service records are.
Now if you want a new GT3 vs the Z06 I would get a GT3. It just cost a whole lot more.
PS: anyone going to MID-OHIO on the 21st. of Aug? If so I would be happy to compare lap times on street tires.

And I bet you must not have read about the guy that had his brakes failed, took his car to the dealer, and because they could tell he had been to the track, cancelled HIS WHOLE WARRANTY, ON EVERYTHING.
Chances are you will need the 100k warranty more on the Vette and they are finding ways to deny them, so dont take it for granted. Not to mention with roofs still fyling off and engines still seizing, they had better warranty fo 100k or get sued.
Z06 + cam/springs ($600), cai ($500), headers ($1500), install ($700) and a tune ($500) = a 135mph trap and mid-low 10 second ET's.
You would need a 30K engine package to run these times in a TT.
The choice is simple, if you're not rolling in dough.

And in a 996 TT, yeah maybe, why are we comparing them tit for tat again? (one model released in 2000 and the other in 2005) No one has tried to compare the two in straight line, American Muscle and Supras hold that title, we are talking about overall performance.
Not to mention you can buy a TT with all that on it already for slightly more and trap 130's and run mid tens, and your car will actually stay together.

I dont have enough events to qualify for Nationals or try to go, but I think NASA nationals are in SEP/OCT or something. But of course my car is not stock. I may be running a modded Z at Road Atlanta this weekend, I can let you know what happens.

For about the same money as a new Z, you should be able to find a good deal on a low mile 03 and maybe even an 04.
Momentum in Houston has an 02 996 TT for 59k.

Don't let the interiors play into your factoring. Neither the 996TT or the Z06 are exactly Lexus quality. You're not buying the car for that anyhow.
If I have one gripe with the Z06 its the very slight annoying engine sounds that come from a 427 push rod engine. I did not have those in the 996TT. In summary, the Porsche is more refined and the Z is more fun.

I hate to break it to you but the 996TT IS NOT more stable at speed and is nowhere near the performer as the Z06. I've owned both and you damn well know I am no Vette fanboy. I am reporting the facts. The Z06 at 150 mph is much more planted. My 996TT with coilovers had a tenedency to wallow a bit.
