Edmunds 911 Turbo BEATS GT-R 0-60, 1/4 Mile
I don't really understand why everyone keeps comparing the GT-R and the 997 turbo. Even though they are both performance orientated, they are two different kinds of cars. GT-Rs should be compared to Lotuses and such.
You guys enjoy jumping the gun a little too much around here, in trying to discredit any GTR related achievements. Any little thing you'll try and pick apart, even if it's a matter of you simply being uniformed lol. Nothing new though. Powerhouse Amuse achieved 611hp with full exhaust (hi-flow cats I think), and their Hi-tech ROM set at 17.5 pounds of boost. ~125hp is more than achievable, with roughly an 8lb increase in boost with the addition of a full exhaust system. Have you seen the stock exhaust system might I add? What a bottleneck! It looks like it gets down to about 2.75-2.50" single piping in some sections. Definately makes me wonder what the engineers were thinking there.
The aftermarket one I saw was also pretty convoluted. There simply is not alot of space there
eclou: Either way, most of the aftermarket R35 exhaust that I've seen use consistant 3" in diameter mandrel bent, or section welded piping. They also converge and diverge from single to dual piping, with an efficient looking y-pipe. A single 3" pipe provides enough flow for around 650-700rwhp on a turbo car, which still allows for a decent amount of potential within the tight confines.
Another linker and like we don't have enough of them....
Do you own or plan to own a Porsche? If not then what do you intend to contribute at this point in the game?
Not being elitist just being real because your 2nd post and you are posting links about ring times that has been posted a MILLION and one times and been debated for a while now.

And when this 611 (at the hubs
) is replicated over and over again and proves to actually go somewhere, then we can talk, what is the trap speed? The dynapack numbers just seem the least reliable to me.

That makes no sense at all, a Lotus Elise/exige is a 1,900lbs street-legal go-cart, while GT-R is a 3,800lb GT. On the other hand, 911 Turbo and GT-R are both GT 2+2 coupes with twin-turbo 6 cylinder engines and AWD. Seems like a a perfect comparison to me. The only difference is that GT-R is obviously in a lower price range, but they are very similar cars in terms of intended usage, configuration, and performance capabilities.

Like I said in my original post... If the ECU consists of adding 4 to 5 pounds of boost then a so called ECU might fly but if not...
Pound of boost with some timing with 93 instead of 91 could yield 10 to 15 at the wheels, maybe a bit more, all depends on the tune. <O
</O
<O
</O
8 pounds would seem right and maybe I have missed something... I take it the GT-R can configure boost through the ECU. Does the car already have wastegates you can mess with through the ECU or maybe the car already has a boost controller, highly doubt it but still... having said that, exhaust and ECU to me is much much different than adding 8 pounds of boost and just saying the car has Exhaust, and ECU.
Look at the video under events, part 3. 11.80 @ 118 mph.

HC, your one man crusade against GTR is getting old. Even after this, you still go on and on...

If it doesn't do so before then, I think the the hyper-hype surrounding the GT-R is going to go away fast (kind of like the R8 has in terms of being a threat to Porsche) as soon as we get the 997.5's with DFI and DSG. Those cars still won't have the electronic gizmos that make them easy to drive fast (Porsches are SO not about doing the driving for you) but if 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are what you like, I believe you will see some damn quick Porsches, even down to the Cayman/Boxster. I'm sure these things will make the Porsches even quicker than they already are on the track also, but Porsche has never been about letting the gizmos do the driving for you. Porsche is about building a solid, beautiful, bullit-proof car that is so fun just to drive around town, and extremely rewarding to drive on the track if you take the time to develop the skills that have made folks like Pedro Rodriguez (well, maybe many of you don't know him), Mark Donahue, Hurley Haywood, and many others our heros for over 40 years. This is all about sport, and excelling at a sport takes well honed skill. Forgive me for saying so, but I liken the GT-R to the space shuttle. The space shuttle is big and bulky and proved to be damn near impossible to land by hand, but boy can it fly when you turn on the computer! I am certainly not irritated by this, yet another GT-R thread. I enjoy seeing the hype revealed and reality restored.
I also have to say that I get irritated with myself for getting caught up in this craziness, but it is so addicting!

But isn't this old news? and the Nissan continues to move backwards, behind a Subaru and a BMW.
