Mezger vs Newer

well
that destroyed engine, if I remember correctly, was when a tuner was trying to max out the engine and didn't really know how to tune it properly yet.
It would be interesting to note how many metz engines were blowup during the initial tuning of the motor.
IMHO that one destroyed motor doesn't say anything.

ok...when this thread was written, there were also supporting photos of this broken engine/con rod...I really dont know where to locate them...But I can recall watching them here...

Again zero proof..

There were some photos showing internal parts of the broken engine...Perpahs a mod can help us locate them...i am not trying to convince anyone about 9A1,you can view internal parts yourself of both mezger and dfi engine and ask a mechanical engineer which parts will last longer under pressure and high hp...After all,I am just an electronic, not a mechanical engineer...

parts
just looking at parts wont tell you the story.
If it was the exact same engine and one had stronger partA vs partB in another exact same engine then of course its an apple to apple comparison.
But these are two completely different motors you shouldn't just say Part A in motor A is stronger so Motor A must be stronger.

Well,
1)lubrication system is an issue and i wonder if any would choose wet Vs dry sump...Porsche had even to raise road clearance at rear end and make rear shock travel 1cm longer in order to set the car higher so the oil sump has a safe ground clearance...
2)a side by side photo of internal parts cna show durability differences of con rods...By definition a thicker con rod will stand higher torque...
3)Porsche 997GT2RS has mezger engine...Why?Proven reliability at high hp of mezger engine?Otherwise 9A1 would be fitted and porsche would have saved some money...Dont forget M97/70 is way too expensive...

I've said it before, when Porsche starts racing the 9A1, then I'll drink the Kool-ade. It speaks volumes to me, when Porsche motorsports built the GT2RS, they went old school all the way. Dry sump and a 6 speed!

+1 on that

The new GT2 could have the old engine because the GT2 like the GT3 is built to meet homologation requirements. Not because it has magical properties.
Here is the new engine on a little test jig to see if the new inferior oiling system can take the abuse.

Again, can anyone please show me a blown motor on the 997.2 turbo?
Or is all the talk just speculation?

No, the GT2 nor 997 turbo is raced in any competitive series that requires a certain number released to the public.
That video speaks volumes, how long was the duration of the test?

Think it's durable? Find a racing team that is willing to race ANY VERSION of the A91.

ya know
no one is really questioning the reliability or mod ability of the metz engine.
What some of us have an issue with is people ASSUMING that it must be better than the 997.2 motor.
We all know what ***-uming does to someone.

How many people on this board are running 7, 800 rwhp on the stock Mezger block? Powell is making 868, has abused his car in the 1/4 mile and it is still running strong.
I have been making mid 700's w/ no issues and now w/ my new exhaust will be pushing 800.
