Would we try the same thing on the new engine? Simply put - no.
That is very simply said, ... and a very powerful statement from people that know what they are talking about.

well

if I didn't really understand the new motor I wouldn't try something like that either.

Its only been out less than a year ... I"m sure there is much more to learn about the new motor even by a great team like switzer.

I'm pretty sure no one tried putting a 1100+hp on a stock 997.1 the first year out either. Not to mention that block has been out a LOT longer than that.

Can someone compare the new motor with the old one in terms of components and materials?

Crank, Rods, Pistons, Valves....

This is almost as bad as a vs GTR thread...

If you feel tuners need more time with the A91 then stop bickering and revisit the subject in another year.

How far will we go with it (the new engine)?

Well we did have sledge running some big power in 2008, and that was not long after it arrived here. https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ght=997tt+30rs

Like Champion has said and done, 560whp is all she will take, then the tranny is the weak link. Nobody knows what the engine will take yet, heck everyone was in an engine building frenzy with the 996tt and the 997tt years ago when it was believed that you could only take the metzger engine to 600hp or the rods will come out...

550whp with the PDK is pretty fast, not 9 second 1/4 fast but it will suffice for 75% of the people out there.

So will you be working on upgrades for the PDK?

The guy made it back to Kuwait for 3 days before he had to fly back out on a family issue.

I did manage to speak with him while he was there.
He promised to compile tech data and documentation on what similarities and differences there are between the 2 engines.

He backtracked a bit on his earlier statements but still insists on there being many similarities between the two engines and that the new engine can make significantly more power than it currently does without having to worry about internals, but wouldn't provide a figure (naturally).

I will push him some more on provided the documentation. If he does, I will forward the documents to someone who can make more of them than me (perhaps Bobby).

If he does not, well then...

+1 Lol

Save ~$65k on a 08-09 vs 997.2, put $20k in the engine and have a reliable 750hp daily driver (and you're still up $45k on a new car). No brainer.

This is what i did + on 2013 they will release the 998 so 997.2 will be old
