Vincent,

It depends which LPE TT package you're talking about. The LPE 800 HP TT package (800 at the crank) makes less power than my S/C package will (my setup should make over 900 crank HP), but costs twice as much. The LPE 1,000 HP TT Package (1,000 at the crank) makes more power than my setup, but costs 3 times as much.

Down the road, I may upgrade to a new blower and a fully built bottom end for around 1,000 rwhp (1,150 crank HP)..and still will have paid $15k less than their 800 HP kit costs. But I want to see how I like 900+ HP at the crank first.

Scott, I drove the 08 today (with 1700 miles) and I have to say at about 5K I was still waiting for the boost to kick in....of course it never did. Can't wait to see how your MTI turns out as it is only a matter of time before I go insane with stock power levels.

Ha ha...ya, the N/A linear power curve takes a while to get used to. Compared to a high HP/TQ turbo car, it's just a long, steady pull that really doesn't feel all that exciting or fast.

But I think having over 600 rwtq at only 2800 rpm will make the driving experience MUCH, MUCH better. I'll let you know in April when I finally get to drive it.

Do you know anybody running the Z06 with a Procharger? I know it is no where near the guchi setup you are getting, just curious if it is $7K well spent on the Z, or if I should move in a diff direction...

Congrats on the new project Scott...just got your PM over on the CF. Can't wait to hear some feed back from you and then get a chance to drive my buddies with MTI's TVS set up as well.

Sounds like you and my buddy Mike have made a great choice with MTI Racing...

I personally wouldn't go with a centrifugal blower like a Procharger. While they make good peak power, they don't provide a lot of area under the curve thus causing a lot of 600rwhp Procharged cars to get beat by 550 rwhp N/A cammed cars. If you go with a blower, I'd definitely go with a roots or twin-screw over a centri. Of course, I recommend the Eaton TVS roots that I'm getting over the rest.

Also keep in mind that a simple bolt-on and cammed N/A ZO6 at only 550 rwhp is a dead heat race with a 600 rwhp 996 GT2 (mid/high 6 second 60-130).

My recommendation? Send your car to MTI where my car is and get their Stage 2 package. It'll give you 550 rwhp and a 12 month/12k warranty for around $7k. If you want 580 rwhp, they have the Stage 2 Extreme kit that adds heads and ported intake manifold for $11k. Both of these setups will make a your ZO6 faster than your 996TT is now. I was really looking hard at the Stage 2 Extreme before I decided to go to the next level.

Also, if you get the Stage 2 Extreme, you could very easily add the Eaton TVS blower at a later date.

Thanks, Dennis. I'm really excited about the build. Be sure to let me know how you like your buddy's car after you drive it.

Will do...just got a phone call from my buddy. Reese dyno'd his car today and was very impressed with the numbers. On pump (93) only, 8psi...722 RWHP (6800rpms)...656 RWTQ at, are you sitting down...(2600RPMS...!!)...

These MTI Racing TVS set ups are showing some incredible potential. And this is with the 1.9 liter I believe. Can't imagine a 2.3 or larger with a built bottom end.

Ya'lls cars are gonna be CRAZY fun...!!!

Nice! That's what I heard from Jason earlier. The great thing is that your buddy is making that much power with a very mild cam. I expect my car will be making 30-40 rwhp more at the same boost with my extreme cam.

I may eventually find out.

Thanks, bro. It's a pic of a Z with the same wheels and drop I'm getting on my car.

I have an uncle with one on his '07 heads/cam Z06. MTI did the work on that one too. It put down 640-650rwhp on 6spi or somewhere around there, I forgot. Anyway, the car runs hard but the only real downside is that it doesn't like being on the roadcourse, even with a big radiator. Too much heat.

awesome car. My friend owns a procharged zo6 done by MTI. He loves the power, but he said the driveability went out the window. He now has to pump the gas from a cold start, etc... When it gets going though, his frown turns upside down.

Congrats on your build.. I am sure you will love it...

I personally wouldn't call having to pump the gas a few times before a cold start a loss of driveability, but then I've owned a lot of modified cars over the years and realize that quirks sometimes come with a large power increase...especially if the car is running a serious cam.

Congrats on your build.. I am sure you will love it...
Thanks, man. I can't wait.

Correction...

Mike just emailed me his dyno sheet from todays pulls. I guess in all his excitement he was a little off on telling me the HP/TQ numbers and the rpm range they were at.

I was thinking the 656RWTQ at 2600 rpms seemed a little high but what do I know. After looking at the graph the TQ is 601.76 at 2600 rpms and 656.25 at around 4200 rpms. Still with a very conservative tune on 93, 600 RWTQ at 2600 is NO JOKE...

Damn Scott...larger camshaft and a possible 2.3 down the road...??

Automatic tire shreader from anything below 80mph...guaranteed
