Anybody here ever try to run a 1/2 miles race with a stock V8V? I was thinking of doing it this year at an event close by

I think I will only go to the ShowNShine part and watch how everyone is doing... I wonder what speed should a 2009 V8V 6sp Manual could get in a 1/2 mile...

 

I've never done it but a group of my friends do 1/2-mile races. If Sunir sees this, he's been doing these lately - he now has a twin-turbo Gallardo Superleggera that he runs.

 

If it is standing start then my sim says:
Stock 4.3 ---- 133 mph
Stock 4.7 ---- 147 mph

 

Wow I didn't think it would have been that fast... it is a standing start, they give you the 1/4 mile time and 1/2 mile speed. I thought that the 4.7 would have been around 130-135mph, didn't expect to be close to 150mph :-)

I am definitely going to be doing it at next year event as it is now too late to register

 

rmrmd1956, I think that your sim is a little off as I was just looking at some of last year results and here is a 2014 Nissan GT-R

Anything that's doing 200+ is going to be over a 1000HP. My 630whp Corvette did low 160's, I'd expect a Vantage to be around 140.

Haha, didn't realize you're in canada. Anyways, I've been to a few 1/2 mile events, you'll have a blast no matter what you run, just don't set your expectations too high!

 

I used to do it in my old E63 AMG, it ran 146MPH from a dead stop. A friend of mine had a lightly tuned V12 Vantage 6SPD. that ran 150 I believe.

 

I was too late this year to register for the 1/2 mile run but I will still go and enjoy the show. I will put a reminder on my calendar for next year as I would like to try it at least once, and they give you 3 tries :-)
