New Shocks for ‘06 V8V Manual

Just learned my dampers are leaking. Mechanic said not urgent, but I intend to address this issue sooner rather than later. I have noticed when I hit a bump or go over a pot hole the feeling is very harsh. Not sure if that is caused by the leaky dampers or not. I would like a more comfortable ride and to preserve the factory ride height. I don’t want to lower the ride height.

In any event, I want to replace or rebuild them and am interested in your recommendations.

I see Red Pants has a custom product with BC Racing coilovers and Swift springs. Has anyone installed the Red Pants product and, if so, what do you think?

Thanks

Mine have been "leaking" for 8 years, no change in feel and have never been told they need to be addressed. Your ride is stiff because it's supposed to be.

I have installed the BC Racing coil overs with the swift springs option. I like them. A lot. I’m not sure how they compare with stock because I replaced them right when I got the car, but they are not bone-jarring, handling is superb, and are adjustable if I ever tack it. Also the ride height is adjustable which is the main reason I put them on. Not a bad deal for under $2,000.

Is it just me, or was anyone else struck by the billboard poster in the upper left corner of your car photograph?

Did you need to remove your wheels 20+ time to get the ride height etc adjustment correct as others on here have said?

Nope, I used a caliper to set all the height and worked perfectly on the first try. I used the stock uncompressed height and started there to see what the total height should be on the coil overs. Then measured old vs new to get the height I wanted, using the caliper to make sure both sides were equal. After I was done, I thought to to set the rear a little lower but it settled nicely so I left it alone. These are the measurements I used between the adjustment rings. I don't recall which measurement is front or rear. The last picture shows the original height with OEM shocks/springs and the new height with the coli overs. Yes, I should have been wearing work gloves :-)

Yes, they are Vorsteiner V-FF 101 20x9 et38 front 255/35/20 tires and 20x11 et50 rear 305/30/20 tires. The hubs on the rear were 2mm too small, so I routed them larger for a perfect hub-centric fitment. :-)
