Another positive outcome. It seems the common denominator is strut replacement.

I just got a set of hood struts (2 long,2 short) on eBay for 2007 flying spur. They were pretty easy to remove and install. Just needed a long screwdriver to get the clamps off

Time to replace the motor

I have replaced my trunk struts, however the auto open still does not work. I can hear the motor humming, but it doesn't move the lid.
Does anyone have instructions for pulling the motor? I found the two bolts, but it still seems to be connected somewhere else (like the hinge).
Any help would be appreciated.

Gary

Hello Gary @fstick09 ,
If you removed the two bolts as circled in my rebuild attached picture below, then you have removed the correct bolts, and there is no need to remove the bolts at the hinge, see the dowel guide nub cast onto the motor housing itself, you want to wiggle the motor out towards the quarter panel while moving the trunk lid up and down a bit to get the spline drive socket of the motor off of the spline shaft part of the hinge.

Johnny

Thank you Johnny you are the man!

I removed the two bolts in my first attempt, but I don't think I wiggled it enough and didn't move the trunk. I will give it another go knowing it's not being held by anything else.

I suspect the motor has already been replaced prior to me getting the car as the two bolts are different. One is an 8 point like in your photos, but the other is a Torx.
