GT2 is infamous around these parts
Exclamation 415hp enough?

Nowadays lots of cars like RS4, M3, AMG etc have more than 415hp.

At this price range, do you think the GT3 has enough hp?

Do you think 415hp will outdated very soon?

I wish next GT3 can have 450+ hp. Next Ferrari F540(replace F430) will have 5.4L V10 engine with 550-600hp so I see no reason Porsche make the next GT3 under 450hp....

I do wish Porsche would stop sandbagging the hp in their cars. The 3.8L 355 hp in the Carrera S should have been in the regular Carrera, and the 375 hp "powerkit" should be in the Carrera S, with the GT3 well north of 420+ hp.

But it's not just hp with the GT3. It is pulling 12 flat 1/4's, nothing the RS4, even upcoming M3's & AMG's will come close to. But the M3 is getting consistently beaten by the Z06, whereas previously the GT3 & Z06 were very competitive in comparison.

A 450hp, direct injected, 2800 pound GT3 sounds just right.

Well GM did throw a big curveball with the current Z06 because they were aiming for cars such as the GT3 at the Road Course and the Viper on the highways and Drag Strips, the result is the king of the hill in terms of performance for cars in this class of sports cars. Porsche can only get so much out of these 3.x liters and make the cars as solid and dependable as they are. This is where the advantage of CUBES comes in. The Viper will always come out on top with HP because it has more displacement in the V10, then comes the vette, who is now having to go FI with a supercharged version to keep up with the viper. the problem with the GT3 is the added weight, if the car had still been 30xx lbs it would have beaten the Z06 in all those tests. That 200 lbs hurts.

And if porsche makes the GT3 with more the GT2 has to be equally as impressive. Corvettes and Vipers have graduated past the GT3 grade level and are now in GT2 territory, sorry to say it but it's true and the upcoming models will prove that even more. The GT2 even has it's work cut out for it to keep up with the monsters that are coming out. We are talking about a vette and a viper that could run 10's and trap 130's BONE STOCK.

As for the RS4, M3 , they will still get diced by the GT3 (even the 996). Now the new GTR, NSX and R8 are a different story, there will be some battling for the GT3 although it can and will beat all of those cars.

With the weight, the GT3 is a pretty fast car. There are many new cars coming out with 400+hp but how many do you see that trap 115+? The amg's do but the rs4 doesnt and I dont think the m3 will trap higher than 115. If you want a little more go, you can install shorter gears. That'll give it a little more go.

I was thinking about this last night and the ultimate for me would be the GT3 RS with an EVO tuned 997 tt motor making 610 hp!

Now that would be sweet!

It is true though that Porsche needs to step up the game in the horsepower department!

I dont think there is but so much you can get out of 3 liter 6 bangers NA. That's where the Turbo and GT2 come in. Otherwise porsche would be facing a serious overahaul of the design, which may not be all too bad but still a v8 wont fit in the rear of the current models.

I haven't driven the GT3 yet and often thought the same thing, but when driving something so well crafted as the GT3, 360CS and so on Arling is right, HP isn't everything. The stats for the GT3 with ONLY 415 hp sure are impressive, still to this day much more powerful cars are coming up short or just matching it!

Compared with those high hp cars.

Maybe GT3 is talking about "handling" and not just 0-100 performance?

I haven't driven the ZO6 or Viper, but I don't think the handling could matched the GT3!

Anyone?
