base gt-r 7:27 @ 'ring (on spec-v wheels)
Precisely what do you think the Targa Tasmania is? Some kind of Sunday drive where people sit around eating cheese and *******s? This isn't Gumball you know.
Targa Tasmania, Targa Wrest point, Quit Targa West and Rally Tasmania are all timed competitive events, officiated and managed in the same format as the WRC and ARC. The only difference is that they use production cars on closed public roads, very similar in structure to the WRC tarmac stages that are run through Europe.

Stock GTR tested by SportsAuto gets 7:38 at the 'Ring' by HVS. Must've been a 'ringer' for sure!!! Either that or SportsAuto and HVS have been bribed by Nissan.
What was Porshe's claim for the GTR again? Something in the line of...."we couldn't get it to go any faster than 7:54" hmmmmm......

Right up there with the 435hp Porsche GT3, and the ZO6 with Eagle F1 runcraps.....wow.
Here I was thinking that this car could run with proper supercars like the Enzo and Zonda in base form.
Porsche's time is where the bulk of the reviews have been i.e. in the 7:50's.

It sounds like your moving the measuring stick everytime the results prove to exceed your expectations...
Why not just slam it, because it can't keep up with Sebastian Vettel in his F-1 car?
Who said Nissan was trying to shoot for the Enzo? Who fabricated this comparison?

Stop looking at the mirror, im absolutely sure that you cant see me

Just because someone dedicates more time around a particular track, doesn't mean it's a faster/better car.
I don't think anybody from Nissan ever compared this car to other cars such as the Koenigsegg CCX, Enzo, Zonda, etc...
The time may suggest that it can run with these cars, but perhaps these manufacturers aren't out to prove something on this particular track. And perhaps they don't care at all about what Nissan is doing there. People don't cross-shop an Enzo and a GT-R.

The goalposts was set by Nissan with their 7:26-7:27 stock based R35 GTR, this is what we have argued about. Most people and journalists have been saying that the GTR is not capable of achieving the time set by Nissan and that the car used was a ringer. A time of 7:38 is far more realistic and in line with other cars with the same specs i.e. the ZO6, Turbo and the GT3.
Sport Auto's Porsche times are relatively nearer factory times because HvS has more experience with Porsches due to his position. This is demonstrated by comparing other GTR and Scuderia same-driver, non-'ring lap times with the GT2. I certainly don't believe that the Scuderia's position in SA's laps relative to the GT2 is representative of reality. The GT2 isn't even as fast as a Scuderia in a straight line at 'ring speeds, so there's no way that a rear-engined manual should be faster than a state-of-the-art MR paddle shift.
The ZR1, GT2 (7.32) and GTR times can be compared because they were done with extensive practice. Marc Basseng's laps in the Enzo, MC12 and Zonda F CS are in a different league. They were done with far more limited practice. The difference between the GTR, MC12, Zonda F CS and Enzo are demonstrated by other non-'ring lap times.

#1 Marc Basseng tested a CGT on the same day he did the Enzo, Zonda and MC-12 and still matched Porsches claimed time and within a couple of seconds of Nissan's. He also eclipsed Pagani's hired driver by 3 seconds. This does not support your limited testing theory.
#2 The ring has significant altitude, enough to make the very close in accleration FI GT2 significantly faster than the NA Scuderia. Not to mention the huge torque advantage for the hills and inclines.
You seem to keep leaving out key information:

Great point on one!!!!!!!!
Hi guys, I'm new to this forum. However, I've been called a Noob and that I don't know anything about cars from HeavyChevy and MonaroCounty. Seriously, is that all they do on 6speed is come and bash any thing and everything GTR?
Oh, hi MonaroCounty, HeavyChevy

The GT-R is the heaviest and has the least amount of power, and is redline limited by gear ratio to 195mph (GPS measured not the advertised 193mph).
You'd hope that cars with 160 more hp, and 600lbs less would fare better in a straightline or bowl.

When comparing performance this is what 90% of the GTRs will see. What most people are trying to get across is the people that do track their cars are going to run into cars that have their suspensions tuned for the track and with sticky tires just like the gtr. If I had a gtr I wouldn't be happy with the stiff ride and rapid tire wear. for what I use a car for, the Turbo fits me. If I was going to spend a lot of time at the track I'ld get a spec miata or an S2000.
