base gt-r 7:27 @ 'ring (on spec-v wheels)
Lightly modded (Cobb AP) and better track pads.
I forget if he had a Y-pipe or not.
Basically, I find it amazing that he did it. If all I need to to best a professional Porsche driver is a hp from a tune and track pads, that's a sad day for that Porsche driver. Nevermind the limited exposure to the track and traffic.
I think that was his point.

A novice around the ring you mean? Another novice around the ring with the same number of laps (around 40 previous laps) as the guy you mentioned set a faster time with a stock Corvette ZO6 (Jan M).
Actually no Porsche, Corvette, Ferrari or Lambo fan can believe the 7:27 time Nissan achieved with the GTR. You need to soak this information in........NISSAN CHEATED AND USED A RINGER TO SET IT'S TIME!!!!!!
Porsche has a reputation for being conservative. By and large, you will find that independent testers are able to approach their quoted performance metrics. I think that given the variability in the early 2009 GT-R population, it's quite possible that their U.S. spec car was slower than their 911 turbo on the ring. Remember, the only two published head-to-head tests of GT-R vs. Porsche on the ring (on the same day) have gone in favor of the Porsche.
I'm providing a little perspective. There was good reason (still is) to be suspicious of Nissan's claimed times. If you want to swallow them hook, line, and sinker, more power to you. Some of us aren't quite as gullible.

Hahaha....you make it sound like you are so right and Nissan is so wrong. Nissan ran the 7:26 this year with the media and Porsche representatives present. None of them said anything about Nissan cheating or lying. You and your buddies on the other hand were nowhere near the 'ring'. So that makes you more believable eh?
Why don't you and your anti-GTR buddies just admit that the 7:26 stands unless proven otherwise - by REAL hard FACTS and not your conspiracy theories. It takes a real man to admit that he is wrong.

The 7:51 done by CAR magazine should be around 7:47 (minus 4sec for the pit straight). That is still below the "7:54" that MoranoCountry quoted. Mind you the driver only had one lap, steering was on the wrong side to what he was used to and there was roadworks on the 'ring'.
Nissan GTR: 7:51 -> 7:47
Porsche GT3: 7:49 -> 7:45
Nissan GTR manufacturer time: 7:27 or a difference of 20 sec
Porsche GT3 manufacturer time: 7:40 or a difference of 5 sec
monaroCountry, it is getting rather pathetic. Maybe you should stick to your snobby Porsche forums and keep telling yourself that a car costing 50% less than a GT3 cant' beat it on the Nurburgring.
Stop trying, your act is getting old and everyone here, even a "noob" like me can figure your act out.

You know you guys are right the GTR is so good that it has no problem lapping the " Ring " in the company of the following cars.
Ferrari Enzo 3000 lbs / 650 hp
Carrera GT 3050 lbs / 605 hp
Corvette ZR1 3350 lbs / 638 hp
Viper ACR 3450 lbs /600 hp
Koenigsegg CCX 2601 lbs / 806 hp
And only marginally slower than the following
Pagani Zonda F CS 2725 lbs/ 650 hp
Maserati MC12 2943 lbs / 624 hp
So you guys are right, forget the Porsche owners...the Koenigsegg, Ferrari, Maserati and Pagani guys should cry themselves to sleep and wake up and go buy a GTR based on what Nissan is saying. I can't understand for the life of me why you would buy anything other than the GTR since its " allegedly " slaps around cars costing 7 and 8 times as much.

Yah, you're right germeezy1, all these cars come pretty close to the complicated and advanced drivetrain all wheel drive system and downforce that nissan has honed over 19 years in the previous GTRs.
None of them have the suspension technology that the GTR has. NONE. Of course, that doesn't factor into lap times at all. They have conventional, old school, 2 wheel drive for the most part. Believe it or not, technology can trump plain old power.
Also, no one here said that the GTR was the end all be all of cars. Nissan proved it to be faster. Faster doesn't alwasy equate to being better, unless that is all you are concerned about.
Like Nissan said, they don't defy physics, they just apply them better.
If Nissan actually did cheat (which no one can really prove at this point, it's all hearsay) then I will be the first to denounce them.

The most amazing thing about hte GTR is that somehow the Porsche guys than us vette guys do.
Other than that it's a overhyped EVO.

Nope haven't personally driven one, but I've been on the track with quite a few of them now. Honestly, they just weren't that fast. No breakdowns, no overheating, no grenaded transmissions, and no earth shattering lap times. I managed to pass a few and the one that got around me was not stock and on slicks. I can drive the **** out of my car though.
I do think it's funny that with as much beef as there is between Nissan and GM on a corperate level that it's surprising to see so many GT-R owners on a predominately Porsche website.

Lucky you didnt believe Nissan's PR machine. BS, same ring time as the Enzo and Zonda.........and just as fast on the long straight as the ZR1. The funny thing is that Nissan's faithfuls actually believe all these PR garbage.
Both Vette and Porsche guys also believe that Nissan used a ringer.

Downforce ey? Its not downforce holding the Nissan to the ground, its fat

.What suspension technology has Nissan introduced thats was so revolutionary? Nissan honed over 19 years of previous GTR? hahahahhaha now thats funny.

This is not some noob either as you guys put on, the guy can drive. He didn't really have much traffic either, or at least was not hindered much by it so you can stop with the over exaggerations.
Pretty sure he was on Dunlops too which are like R-comps compared to the Bridgestones.
So can you please stop acting like this was a stock vehicle because it surely wasn't even close.
