Oh fun! Nissan seems to be trying very very hard NOT to sell cars to enthusiasts:

Well, there you go people. 2 seconds difference between the two, towards the Porsche. And using the same unbiased driver, same conditions (I would assume), etc. etc.

I have no problem saying that Nissan has some explaining to do. I can't imagine that Spec V wheels and tires accounted for 24 seconds.

Wonder when there will be info on the Sport Auto Supertest with Saurma.

After these results, I think this debate is now a dead issue.

Cheers.
VSpec time? I want to say 7:44 but with the caveat that the driver openly admitted he was not going 10/10ths. That time should not be used to represent the VSpec's true ability. For more details, I'll refer you to the thread on the M3 board (post #275 and beyond):

GT-R thread on M3 Board

p.s. I post as "Garissimo" there. That name and my handle here are the same 2 goofy aliases I use on most of the forums.

Look through the web Nissan's upper management, engineers and even drivers has vehemently maintained that the record setting GTR was stock standard. I dont know about you but a difference of around 30 seconds around the ring isnt just minor tweaks, thats a whole lot of extra power going to the weels and some other supporting performance goodies.

Wow, yet ANOTHER lap of the ring in the 7:50's for the GT-R in the hands of a ring expert. I wonder how many it will take for the fanboys to see clearly.

They will keep using driver, tires and weather condition as an excuse. My bet is that they will even bag and question top ring professional race car drivers

Not much tuning could be done? Do you even know what magnetic shocks are? There are still spring rates, and the whole spectrum of suspension bits.
Yes, I know what magnetic shocks are. And variable shock fluid viscosity will play hell with spring rates and there is only so much adjustment the stock suspension will allow for alignment settings.

The ZR-1 is also driving on PS2's with rwd and 630 hp, a little correction is always going to be needed in those conditions. Whereas the Dunlops on the GT-R have proven to be even faster than R888's in several instances, and it's also underpowered and AWD so there won't be much correction. And the ACR is on Sport Cups which are also R-comps and has a ton of DF. Even still, put them on street tires and watch the sawing begin.
The ACR is still on street-legal tires and the point being is it unquestionably a better handling car than the ZR-1. There are far, far too many dynamics to simply state the tires are the sole reason for multiple steering inputs vs. the ACR.

Enjoy.
Even with track day variance that is a lifetime vs. a 7:27 in an AWD car with a DCT and various other driver aids.

There are a LOT of two seaters you can say the same about. And very few Veyrons go on "road trips" anyway.

Here in the US... what the hell will you do with it?
The same thing tens of thousands of 10sec and 11sec cars and bikes do everyday - go WOT wherever appropriate. And the AWD just makes it that much easier...

I don't plan on trying to defend the GT-R in any way anymore. It is what it is. I still like it, and think its very capable, but I just can't believe the lap times posted by Nissan anymore.

Deuuuce- Regarding your response to the Veyron, look how many are available for sale around the world with low mileage. Seeing that they will only make 300 Coupes. Of those coupes they created the special edition models (Pur Sang (5), Sang Noir (15), Centenaire (4), Hermes (you can order them specially)). So Bugatti are really trying to move all of them along. People get over having the cars quickly because you can't do much with it. I know that the people I have referred to, would prefer to be able to do more for the better part of $2MM (or more with special edition models), than to just floor the car a few times. Those 10 second cars you mention, belong to people who like to prove they have 10 second cars, and usually go to the drag strip. You are talking about cars that are at most in the couple of hundred thousand dollar range, not million plus dollar supercars. Difference in mentality.

No I think the real question is When will you and other GTR Haters either accept that it is not running the fabled time or is and just drop it. I have and so have others. AGAIN I DID NOT BUY MY GTR TO RUN AROUND THE RING OR BECAUSE OF ITS RING TIMES. The better indicator of its speed for me was the 1/4 times posted which are in line with other test.

This really is getting old wether the times are real or not!!

We have already accepted the fact that a stock Nissan GTR will never run the fabled Nurburgring time. For me anyway im just trying to spread this fact to everyone that might not know Nissan's cheating ways.

Best Motoring has a clear habit of favoring Japanese manufacturers and not being able to drive non Japanese cars to their potential and or properly. Simply put they are a joke!!!!!!!!!

Who the hell are u supposed to be. THE Anti NISSAN **** crew?? Please you are not going to stop someone from buying a GTR just because of all your google links and talk. If they want it they will get it. Its not your choice.

Nissan more than anyone has all its credibilty to lose if these times are not of a stock car and I am sure everyone in the world will make a mockery of them if and when this is done.

OT disclaimer: The point is, price not withstanding, the "practicality" of the Veyron is no different than a Lamborghini, a GT-2, Enzo, or even any other limited storage-space 2-seater with limited dealer networks. People don't buy them for "road trips" and if that is their excuse for selling it, then they shouldn't have bought a two-seater with limited space in the first place, should they?

In otherwords, road-trip worthiness isn't the real reason the car is for sale or being "dumped"....
