2001 996 TT engine “Indicator Failure” with no start
Car was running fine May. Stores the car with battery trickle charger; but was **** off accidentally....by July. Car AGM battery dead. Recharged the battery. Got this dash warning and radio code missing. Thought it was related to radio and Immobilizer. Entered the radio code; all power equipment and keys work fine. Still warning engine Failure Indicator. See pic.
Switched batteries from H6 to 49
Scanned with icarsoft POR-II “can not connect”
Checked ECU/dash fuses and relays- all check good
Replaced the ignition switch
Scanned with Autel Maxicom- scanner skipped over DME module. I have pictures of results.
Ive been told that ECU in 996 will expire like this?
I don’t think ECU has a tune in it; .6-.7 boost.
Anything else like hidden relay or fuses other than foot well and relays behind passenger seat to check?
Before you do all thag check for mouse droppings and chewed through wires. No sense in gettinf an ecu just for it to fry again.
Yes, good point. I've not seen any evidence of rodents or smell anything either. I've checked by driver footwell, battery tray and back behind the just seats by ECU.
Any suggestions?
