I switched to a .2 airbox and removed the MAFS. Less restriction. They can be turned off with a tune.
I fabricated some silicon and aluminum couplers to connect to the inlet tubes. I needed an offset coupler on one side, 30 degree on the other, some aluminum bends, and a tubing expander to accommodate size differences (inlet pipes are larger).
The MAF plugs tie up nicely with the O2 sensor plugs
I see you are a fan of the oetiker clamps. I was going to buy the constant tq oetiker clamps while I was in Florida but so far the trident clamps are holding with periodic tightening
Mine reads -9. I don't know what the units are but I'm setup to show psi so maybe it's psi? I just used the stock springs that came with my Forge bovs….I think they are only rated for a few psi.
Thanks Bobby, same to you. Looks like the turbo season ended fairly abruptly. Got back from holidays to find winter in full force, and it's only November!

Yep!! I still have a fill tank of E85(need to store with pump), no detail, no oil change , tires not over inflated etc just hit and I was like crap... have to wait till there is a good day and need to attempt to get all that stuff done......
Looks like I will be joining the Alpha crew next year ...so I would be leaning on you for your all your acquired knowledge!
Thanks. I've ordered up the TiAL Q50MM. Sam has included the Plain spring (-16 in/hg to -19 in/hg), which looks pretty close. Prior to final button up I'll double check with a guage on the hose that actually connects to the BOV.

Cool. Happy to share whatever knowledge I have.

I had wondered about the springs in the bovs when I was researching this stuff. I wondered why the spring pressures were so low and why the bovs didn't just blow open at the 5psi spring pressure (or whatever the number is). You may already know the answer...it's because the pressure in the intake plenum (where the vacuum line goes to the bov) and the y-pipe (or wherever you mount the bov) are about equal while on boost while on throttle. As soon as the throttle closes the boost in the plenum drops but the boost in the back of the bov is still high so that delta allows the bov to release the pressure to atmosphere, sounding like a cold beer is getting opened each time.
The turbos were back-ordered, but I think they are almost ready. Can anyone comment on the below?
1) HKS Controller Screen - Is ongoing access needed? I want to mount on the flat area under the fuel gauge and behind the cruise control stalk. It is accessible, but not easy to see details while driving.
2) Speed/RPM signal - Did you use ECU Connector III, Pin 12 (Red/Grey wire)?
3) Throttle signal - Did you use ECU Connector III, Pin 24 (Yellow/White wire)?
Sorry for the slow response, haven't been around here for a while.
I have the HKS controller screen mounted in the little space in front of the gearshift. I like it for access to change boost maps as well as to see what's going on. You don't absolutely have to have it handy because you can set and forget once you've reached your goals for target boost curve etc...
sorry I don't remember 2 and 3 but the answers are probably somewhere in this thread....
I did use the EVC vacuum filters. My car is in the shop right now with the engine coming down to put the proper size hoses on between solenoid and wastegate. I was going to ask them to put enough length of tubing between the plenum and the vacuum filter that I could change them without dropping the engine, but after discussing with my shop we decided to not put them in this time. Hope that's a good decision, lol.
The XR980 kit is now the XR1000 and I believe the difference is the size of the hotside turbine. Tial told me I probably have the larger hotside turbine because they automatically switched to this turbine some time before I got my set. I could find out for sure by measuring the hotside turbine but it doesn't really matter to me because I'm currently on stock engine and am nowhere near maxing the turbos...
Just went to the shop (MVS motors) and was happy to hear the leakdown test was perfect. Changing the plugs since we are there anyway. I checked both wastegates and made sure all of the bolts were tight. Easy to do with the engine out. Not so easy to do with the engine in! Both wastegate cracking pressures are 11psi with full opening at 15psi.
I debated moving the solenoid from it's current position at the front of the engine near the back of the plenum but my shop suggested leaving it there since it could be accessed if it failed. Hope we never find out, lol.
Car should be back together next week and I can't wait to set it up again. Just in time for spring...damn cold up here these days, I think it's the coldest April ever...

Cold tell me about it! I filled up in E85 and have not been able to even go through one tank. I am having fun with the RS7 at least! We got Mitch (used to be with COBB’s) over here with us Audi guys with their new DS1 for the 4.0TT ! Finally broke and got the tune on the RS7!
I am eagerly awaiting your 60-130 numbers on pump and your full review of your set up man!
