No need to order Compass Display just for looks...
Vinny
I'll be fitting the compass this week and will post up some pics.
"Sport Chrono" package, in Porsche speak, is an option that adds more aggressive sport modes, launch control for PDK, and adds a chronograph timer in the center of the dashboard. I haven't used one personally, but based on the photo I pasted above, I'd say the bottom subdial and digital display (HH:MM) are for time of day. Probably when you hit start button, the digital display changes to show elapsed time in MM:SS, as well as the red seconds hand.
If the clock for the cayenne's was like this (both a clock and a chrono) I'd find that pretty useful, as I love using my my chrono watches to time myself from point A to B. But if just a clock, I'd probably stick with the compass
I'm looking for some clarification here. In the pre-dash mounted clock Cayennes, the only places I have found a clock in my Cayenne are:
- In the mini PCM display in the instrument cluster at the bottom. This is always displayed except when on the map screen (which I use the most)
- In the main PCM display on only a few of the screens (for example Info/Car). It is not anywhere on any of the music screens.
Is this consistent with what others are seeing? Is it possible that there is a software update that puts the clock on more of the main PCM screens (for example replacing the temperature reading at the bottom right corner)?

In another thread, it sounded like all 2012 models have the software update that causes the time to always display in the bottom of dash cluster. Not sure if that software update is available to 2011 owners or not.
Ok - my PCM system version is 2.40. I called my Porsche dealer and they are investigating if there is an update to the PCM. For those of you with 2012s and a steady clock, what is your PCM version?
If you have the dash clock and want the altimeter, you can always set the altimeter to come up on the display on the dash under the information menu. I have my 4 bar menu set up to display: compass, altimeter, phone and audio. The altimeter display is really cool looking with the mountains as the icon.

I don't think Porsche will give you a PCM software update, at least not for free, I agree that lack of a permanent clock display in the earlier Cayenne is a major short coming, cars costing 20% of the Cayenne have this feature. On the other hand, Porsche has every right to make continuous product improvement without any obligation to existing owners, unless of course if it is safety related. Perhaps Porsche can include the new software in the future PCM map update which of course the customer needs to pay for it. Or Porsche can come up with a retro fit dash mount clock kit for the dealers to install, and hopefully the price will be reasonable, otherwise you might as well go buy a nice watch and stick it on the dash!
Is the dashboard clock of new 958 made for only North-American customer?
I heard that there is no dashboard clock on Cayenne coming to Asian countries. Really is it?
