997.2 Intercoolers - Wow!
Hey guys,
First of all I would like to thank Earl for such a fantastic write up. I'm getting ready to install a set of these ICs on my car and just had a question with regards to attaching the .2 intercooler end tank pins to the existing frames. Looking at the pictures here I can see that the rear end tank pins both attach to the frame. However, looking at the forward end tank (see third picture from the top), it looks like neither pin in attached to the frame which would mean that the front end tank is not supported in any way. Earl stated earlier that only one of the forward pins is unusable but here it looks like neither one of the front ones is engaged in the frame. Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong. Thanks in advance....

timccloud,
Generally no need for a retune, the DME has logic for varying IATs.
Do the 997.2 ICs come with the metal C clip end tank retainers that secure the boost hoses or do they need to be purchased separately? My understanding is that the 997.2 C clips are different than the ones on the 996 ICs. Also, does anyone know if AP boost hoses will clip in to the 997.2 IC end tanks without any of the issues as described here one or two pages back where the forge hose adapters didn't quite clear the inner step lip in the end tanks? Thx....
yesterday the the temperature was 25celcius i logged the IAT onthe 997tt tip with softronic tune and AP 200cell exhaust.IAT hit the 80 degrees celcius and timing was pulled from 15 to 5degrees
with which intercooler?
pwdrhound,
They should come with clips. Not sure on the AP hoses.
The 997 in question is tuned.
PS: by 20°C AT, IAT reaches >50°C with only one run from 100 to 300kph. (first IAT level for time pulling is 37.5°C, and follow several harder steps)
I believe I read somewhere here about EPL A3076 yellow 996tt tested Forge vs 997.2 coolers and he found that Forge did better plus made more power comparing 997.2 coolers.
Not sure if he can chime in now

-2.75 cargraphic for a custom 3.3" mouth to 3" exhaust
-997.2 ICs to Forge ICs
It's hard to allocate gains between exhaust and ICs, wether is 30 and 30 or 40 and 20 .... whatever or just the combination of both. Keep in mind my car runs meth, both dynos are with meth.
1. I wanted a better flowing core, less restrictive core.
2. I also wanted a core that will not blow up when I turn the boost up past where most run it.
3. I wanted to get rid of those pesky C clamps that hold the hoses in and periodically pop out
4. I had an opportunity to test a new product ( my set was the first set in the U.S ) and I am very happy with the results
