A FWIW, RS Tuning said they tested the GT2RS intercoolers on a stock GT2RS on the autobahn doing repeated runs up to 300kph, low 20s ambient and they had IATs in the 70s.

Looking at the pictures here I can see that the rear end tank pins both attach to the frame. However, looking at the forward end tank (see third picture from the top), it looks like neither pin in attached to the frame which would mean that the front end tank is not supported in any way. Earl stated earlier that only one of the forward pins is unusable but here it looks like neither one of the front ones is engaged in the frame. Maybe I'm just seeing it wrong. Thanks in advance....
The front pin mount is slightly recessed from the rest of the frame and just hard to see in that photo. It's there

timccloud,
Generally no need for a retune, the DME has logic for varying IATs.

Do the 997.2 ICs come with the metal C clip end tank retainers that secure the boost hoses or do they need to be purchased separately? My understanding is that the 997.2 C clips are different than the ones on the 996 ICs. Also, does anyone know if AP boost hoses will clip in to the 997.2 IC end tanks without any of the issues as described here one or two pages back where the forge hose adapters didn't quite clear the inner step lip in the end tanks? Thx....

VTGs pump out some high IATs and this instance sounds about right for a flashed 997.1 if he was doing a long pull. Goes to show just how temporary the gains of a flash can be without supporting mods.

pwdrhound,
They should come with clips. Not sure on the AP hoses.

damn didn't know the 997 were pushed that hard from the factory.

I guess 997 benefits much more from an intercooler than a 996.

yeah but still it is just a tune, plenty of 996tt run a tune without such dramatic effect on IAT.

I did thid test one year ago, same result (IAT 70°C, timing -5° and Lambda 0.72...) that's why I'm not OK those IC are really efficient, but I don't know better ones yet...

PS: by 20°C AT, IAT reaches >50°C with only one run from 100 to 300kph. (first IAT level for time pulling is 37.5°C, and follow several harder steps)

I believe I read somewhere here about EPL A3076 yellow 996tt tested Forge vs 997.2 coolers and he found that Forge did better plus made more power comparing 997.2 coolers.

Not sure if he can chime in now

yes my car made over 60whp from switching...

-2.75 cargraphic for a custom 3.3" mouth to 3" exhaust
-997.2 ICs to Forge ICs

It's hard to allocate gains between exhaust and ICs, wether is 30 and 30 or 40 and 20 .... whatever or just the combination of both. Keep in mind my car runs meth, both dynos are with meth.

1. I wanted a better flowing core, less restrictive core.
2. I also wanted a core that will not blow up when I turn the boost up past where most run it.
3. I wanted to get rid of those pesky C clamps that hold the hoses in and periodically pop out
4. I had an opportunity to test a new product ( my set was the first set in the U.S ) and I am very happy with the results
