ok i have the mini installed and it works thru the stereo!! now can someone tell this non techno reject how do i get it to turn off with the ignition? i have the cydia website downloaded but have no idea how to use it. help!

 

• Jailbreak.
• Use Cydia find/install Activator
• Set up Activator as follows:
  • At Lock Screen -> Power Connected -> Unlock Device
  • At Home Screen -> Power Disconnected ->Lock Device
  • In Application -> Power Disconnected -> Lock Device
• Use Cydia to find/install NBsettings
  • Set up NBsettings to do things you can't easily do when the iPad is instlaled, like press/hold the power Button for reboot, up/down volume.

 

i have it set up this way but the ipad mini still stays on when the key is removed. could it be because the setup is like slopeslider and uses the oem radio with the sosche cable? radio is off but mini stays on.

 

How is your iPad getting power? The Activator app will not kick in until the iPad looses power (or has a power interruption). You need to power it to a switched +12V source (meaning power on when car on and power off when car off). The radio power is easy since it is right there.

It works for those of us that went with aftermarket radios with USB connections because when we turn off the car the radio looses power. That kills the power to the USB (or iPad in our case) and that triggers the Activator app to then do whatever you assigned it to do ("Lock Device" in this case).

 

The sosche cable has a constant power and a switched power lead. I have both connected

 

Krazy make sure the Sosche unit is connected to switched power. Activator will need to be set-up to cut on and off with power. I'm crazy busy with work but will try to call you later in the week if you are still stuck.

guess im still not doing something correctly. rewired the 12v and switched together on a switched circuit. when i open the door the screen lights dimly. touch it and it becomes bright. shut the car off and the mini stays on until the radio shuts off a few seconds later. dark screen.

ideas?

it seems to come on just by opening the door. unless i cut on the ignition theres no sound as its run thru the oem radio. so to answer yes and no! i have more questions than you could ever answer on here ( computer illiterate here) if you have time this weekend if you could call maybe you can talk me thru some of this stuff. ie: how do you get full screen size album covers on podcar and music? does the screen stay lit up always? ( mine goes dim after a few minutes of driving) pbfz posted about cydia nb settings for on/off volume ect i cant find that. on and on!!

 

Krazy been thinking about your issue(s). Not sure where you tapped into the switched power. Your door opening shouldn't cause your ipad screen to light up. I would recommend tapping into the phone plug for power and ground directly to th chasis. This thread will take you through how to do it. http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...r-dummies.html. I'll pull my iPad tomorrow and try to post some screen shots of the software stuff and give you a call to walk through it.

To keep you screen from dimming go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock > Never. The on/off with the ignition is handled through Activator. It's been awhile, I'll have to figure out the settings again.

 

32krazy, please be careful... Have you maybe tapped into a lighting circuit instead of switched ignition? NOT what you want, especially since the voltage varies on those circuits.

Might be time to get some assistance...
