I just had brake bleeding done on my 2016 PAN Hybrid @ Flecher Jones Porsche 2 mos ago. I just noticed today when I applied the brake a few times to slow down (bump brake) and pressed the brake hard to stop, the car was moving and finally stop. I feel the brake pedal could not press down to stop. After that, the brake is back to normal if I press the brake pedal down continuously to stop, the car stop. what's the problem? does my brake system has air inside? I am doing a very low speed backing out the parking and drive slowly out. The inspection report stated that Brake is @ 6 good when they did a full inspection on the car, no issue.
Plan to bring the car back to the shop for them to inspect the brake next Friday. I see no leak and the brake fluid is full.
Yes, I feel I have air inside my brake system. I am not so happy with Hybrid, I had many issues with the engine light issue this year, 6 times. my warranty was out in January, Porsche stands behind their product they grant 1 full repair on a hybrid system for free with rear bumper removal to replace the control unit. After 1 trip to LA, I had another engine light, repair to replace the chiller valve by removing the front bumper for the job I have to share 50% cost, $1.5K out of my pocket last month.
Thank you for the feedback.
I’m afraid I do not think it’s air. It is very hard to get air in the system if they use a pressure bleeder like I guess/believe they do. You would have felt an issue as you drove it home. My guess it is either the brake booster or master cylinder but I always seem to forget which one causes what.
I update it next week when the car is back to Porsche Fremont. I will check it with Hybrid and Combustion to if there is a different behavior when braking. Thanks for feedback.
Yes, it does. I will recharge the battery and check the brake in both E mode and combustion operation. I see I have brake problem in combustion mode, engine is running.
Charge battery full to test the brake in emode. I don't see I have a problem with brake. Brake problem when engine is running, strange. On my way to Costco I see the message reduced engine power light up. Terrible ... Bring the car back to Porsche. It may be time to trade in. Porsche Hybrid value is lowest to trade in. My Pan is PP+, PDLS+ and ACC Lidar.
I just found I have brake booster issue with my durametric diagnostic today. "reduce power engine light" message was on yesterday during my drive to costco. I have an appointment with Fremont Porsche this coming Friday, I see $$$ pain. I will complain to Porsche America.
I just found this posting below from @pishter. my 2016 Pan Hybrid has so many issues starting mid 2020 to now. I did not drive much 2020. Hybrid is so buggy and not reliable. I am planning to trade it in for sure. My other 2 ICE Porsche are solid. The sad thing is I just had a brake bleeding done at Porsche 2 mos ago. They did not report this issue. >>>
Dealer found out that hybrid system has went into a ‘Safe Mode’ due to a fault in the brake booster vacuum pressure sensor.
The tech found a stuck one-way valve for the vacuum system in his diagnosis.
There is a technical bulletin regarding this concern and it directs them to replace all three vacuum lines. In addition because the pump has overran trying to compensate for the stuck valve, they will replace the pump and the relay that controls it as well.
No Cost, Porsche is taking care the issue. brake booster vacuum is leaking, replace a vacuum line. Pan Hybrid is the most unreliable car I have. The car is 44K miles. I am working to trade it for a new 911. I see 911 retain the value very well.
Thanks for sharing. Even Toyota has trouble with brakes in the Gen 3 Prius. They are providing some kind of extended warranty on the brake accumulator/booster. One would think they'd have it sorted out by then. Must have something to do with hybrid systems as you mention.
Glad Porsche took care of you and interested to see pics of your new 911!
I am very disappointed with Porsche Hybrid. Imagine that this is 2016 Pan hybrid 44K miles. I had so many issues with Hybrid session, the car was in dealer for 10 times since 2019 to now starting at 38K miles. Gladly Porsche took care all the issues. The last issue I had last month was chiller valve for hybrid, basically water coolant valve to cool down the battery and EV motors. Fletcher Jones Porsche removed the front bumper to replace the vale and electrical control sensor. the total cost was $2.6K, while they were doing that they replaced the air filter $80 part + $40 labor to unscrew and put the new filter in. Porsche covered 50%, I paid $1.5K.
Time to sell my Pan Hybrid, Porsche takes in very low $. I will see how much carmax offering. new 911 waiting time is 9 mos. LA porsche has many White 911 and they mark up. LOL ... I have time, no rush ...
